I titled this review - the pillows - simply because the quality and comfort of those things we often take for granted reflect just one of the things that make this property a place you should consider staying. As with other reviews, L'O is ideally situated: close to train station as well as the major attractions that this marvelous city...

We stayed in this hotel for 6 nights. The staff is wonderful, comes with a very filling breakfast for all tastes, the room was gorgeous. We stayed in a deluxe regular room with a king bed. Very comfortable and plenty of space for 2 in the bedroom and bathroom. It gives you a feeling of luxury which was nice because...

This hotel was fabulous! It's low lit candlelight ambience is so relaxing as well as scents that are piped into the hallways. The beds are large and comfortable with crisp white bedding and the rooms are larger than most european hotels. The breakfast was typical for Florence hotels. They have a great bar and restaurant with beautiful blue lit pools....

Loved this hotel from the moment we walked into the lobby for our first night in Italy. We were two women travelling together and the hotel did their best to accommodate us with a different room (junior suite) that allowed us to have a separate space. A special mention to Lapo (I hope I got the spelling right) who made...

We actually booked the hotel next door Santa Maria Novella, to which upon arrival were told that they were overbooked and were asked to go next doors to Hotel L'Orologio. We did get a chance to look at the rooms that were available and chose to stay at one of the bigger ones looking out to Santa Maria Novella. The...

This is a great hotel. The deco is original and tasteful. The reception staff are helpful and you will be situated at a top location, just minutes from all the top sights of which there are plenty in Firenze of course. Our room (we stayed there for 3 nights) was very comfortable. The toilette was very well appointed. The rooms...

We stayed here 6 days and would recommend this hotel--except for the spotty wifi. If you care about staying connected with your devices, the hotel wifi will throw you off in the middle of doing work or checking emails. You have to constantly log on again, an annoyance I have never encountered as severely as this in a modern hotel....

Stayed in this lovely hotel which has a "clock/timepiece" theme. Convenient walk to the train station and yet not so close that you have to deal with the train station traffic/noise, etc. Good location to all the "must see sights". Their room was decent-sized with clean, comfortable bedding, with a large bathroom. Their breakfast on the top floor had a...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
