We stayed here for two nights 2 days ago. We had a superior room overlooking the pizza. It was room 314 . The room was spacious with a large bathroom, fridge hairdrier, excellent air on,large comfortable bed. The breakfast selection was very good, the staff friendly and very helpful. They got us skip the line tickets for the Uffizi gallery...

We arrived quite late at the hotel and were shown to our room. We were quite disappointed with it because it was so tiny, even by European standards. We talked to the night manager and he told us not to unpack and they would move us to something a little larger in the morning. Which they did. The hotel is...

Very convenient and comfortable hotel with a very beautiful decor , 2 mm walking distance from Santa Maria Novella train station, in front of Santa Maria Novella church and piazza. In the heart of the historical down town of Florence. From the hotel you can reach all the historical and touristic piazzale, church , castles of this historical city and...

The photos online don't even do this hotel justice. We managed to get the room on special and when we arrived we couldn't believe how little we had paid for it!! The room and bathroom were both very clean, modern and spacious, allowing a comfortable and relaxing stay. The location is perfect, walking distance from shops, the duomo and lots...

The perfect hotel to stay! Comfortable chambers and very good and huge breakfast! When you go out from the hotel, you find the main features of Florence really close. The main hall is so clean and elegant that it seems to be a 4 stars hotel hall. Love it! That's gonna be my hotel next times in Florence.

Great location: The hotel is located in piazza Santa novella. The hotel could be reached by walking from the train station. The staff are nice. You will be welcomed by a staff who guides you to your room. The room are very clean and spacious. The bathroom is clean. The only remark is for the shower space where it is...

Florence was our 2nd stop on our honeymoon. Hotel Rosso 23 was even better than pictured! The room was huge, we booked one with a city view - we looked straight out onto Santa Maria Novella and the entire piazza, which was beautiful. The bed was comfy, everything was spotless, the bathroom was large - not what I expected for...

We chose this hotel based on its proximity to the train station. Be sure to head left outside the train station. Head towards a large tower. The signage is not great but it sits right on the piazza so not hard to find. The lobby area is beautiful and a bit funky. It was a bit if a labyrinth to...

Friendly and helpful staff, working WiFi (a surprising rarity), great breakfast, clean and stylish room. I travelled in Italy for two weeks and this was my favorite hotel of the trip. I expected to sacrifice comforts for its proximity to the train station, and was very pleasantly surprised. Highly recommended. In early July 2016 the entrance was temporarily at number...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
