very close to the main train station, on a busy street but VERY quiet. We had the Blue Suite with the living room and kitchen and bedroom, which was nice. The breakfast was at a little bar down the street and was great and the best cappuccino ever. Within walking distance to all the important sights, museums and churches. Several...

My dad and I rented two rooms from Laura at Il Piccolo Fiorentino. We stayed almost a week, and I am so grateful that we did. Laura was wonderful. She's very professional, and hold a high standard for her property. The rooms are well-appointed and big enough. They are wonderfully clean, too. The property has had a very recent renovation,...

Very cosy and peaceful place in a house near the railway station. Room and bathroom was rather small, but very comfortable, clean and well-organised. Quiet place (if there's no football game that Italian family will watch;-) Very good address in Florence for a traveller who needs a comfortable place for the night. Cafeteria nad pizzeria two steps away from the...

This is a nice little B&B although there is no breakfast included which was a bit misleading. The rooms are a nice size and our bathroom was HUGE by Italian standards. All newly renovated and nicely done. Very quiet as well which was nice. The location is brilliant - blocks from the train station, the Ponte Vecchio and the downtown...

We had the red room. Clean and modern bathroom, small but reasonable sized room overlooking an interior courtyard, working AC, and cheap. The place is also very close to the main train station and also close to the main tourist sites (Duomo, Uffizi). Was totally satisfied with what we got. Plus, the owner (Fabio) was very accommodating and helpful. The...

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

“The Blue Suite is the gem of the property. The Red Room is slightly smaller than the Green Room, but not by much.”
