The place is ok. The room itself was tiny but comfortable and clean. The bathroom was also very small but clean. The hotel was located at 6-7 minutes walk from the Duomo but in a dark little street. The staff was a bit rude and spoke only italian. Overall, this is a good place to start to visit Florence.

The hotel has proved a successful choice for several reasons. First, because the position of the center of town, giving direct access to all the sites with only a few minutes walk. Secondly, it was very quiet. Thirdly, it was very clean and, fourthly and most importantly, it was beautiful mansion. Housed in an old palace, gives an air of... More

We didn't have any problems with bugs fortunately but it sounds like other guests have, which will make this review look like a glowing recommendation. Our stay was ok, but not great. The staff was rather stiff and didn't seem to be appreciative of our business. The only time we ever saw someone at the front desk was at check-in...any... More

The customer is always right is a concept invented by a customer. He's right who is polite, courteous and sympathetic to anyone who is doing a job in which the client is not competent. Why after 12 hours spent smiling, explain, listen, answer the phone, respond to email and, in the midst of all this, groped to work while the... More

We spent four horrible nights at this hotel in Florence. The staff is terrible. They offer no assistance, are rude and outright callous. No air conditioning, no mini fridge - neither worked. When we complained they ignored us. No soap, shampoo, extra pillows, pen, notepad - nothing! We had to open the windows to breath because it was so hot... More

My sister and I stayed at the Il Duca in February 2010. We had a wonderful stay at this charming, well-kept and clean hotel. It was in a great location to the Duomo and Centrico Storico. They were able to recommend a fabulous restaurant close to the hotel. I would definitely stay there again.

If you would like to be ripped off, stay here ........ Whilst my partner and I was out, the staff fixed a broken door lock to the room and tried to sting us for 800 euro .... What the ? And on top of all this, we had numerous un-authorised transactions on our credit card from the "IL Duca" hotel,... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in august. It was at least a 20minute walk from the train station. Lovely small hotel, good quiet location near the Duomo cathedral. Our problem was with the air con, when you book in you are only given one key card, which you need to start the air-con. This was a big problem as... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
