Hotel Il Duca, thank you for the nice two day in Florence. Perfectly located hotel close to all attractions and to the train station. The owner was friendly and although he didn't speak english, there was no problem to understand our questions with the slight help of a dictionary! The room - perfectly cleaned, sheets snow white, air conditioning working...

Super location for a city trip to this marvelous city. Within a few minutes walk from all the things you must see in Florence. The owners were nice and friendly. A pitty that they only speak italian. therefore communication was a bit diffecult.

Nice family owned hotel that is a short walk from the Duomo. The family that runs the place is quiet. The Daughter speaks some english the older couple does not. As long as you are polite and considerate you will have no problems with them. Since they do not speak english, we just went down by the Duomo to get...

Terrible! Bad breakfast, the minimum temperature of the conditioning air is 24oC, it don't have loundry, the minibar did not working, the lobby is always with nobody and is easy to anyone get in the hotel. The family who is in charge of the hotel is unlikable and never try to be helpful. It seems that they are making a...

A nice family owned hotel. They were welcomming us in a very nice way. They speak mostly italian, so it´s an good idea to bring a wordbook. The rooms are very clean and the breakfast is good, bread, juice, cornfalkes cheese, cereals, coffee, tea, cakes, milk and more. It´s an quite old couple, who did their best to please us...

Wasn't sure what to expect after reading poor reviews on here but we consider the room to be just a base so thought it wouldn't be a problem. However we were wrong. First impressions of the hotel are that the staff are not friendly and barely speak English so it is difficult to communicate. We arrived at 10am and our...

We stayed in Il Duca hotel 4 nights at the end of June 2013. The location is good but it is run by very unfriendly family. The first strange thing was a notice that the guests cannot stay in rooms from 11 am to 3 pm because of cleaning and any food put in refrigerator will be thrown away. Safe...

While indeed situated a few streets away from main attractions, clean, with wonderful decorations, the hotel lacks terribly in hospitality. When arriving there, we were greeted by a receptionist that spoke only Italian, our room was supposed to be ready at 3 pm but when we got there we had to wait until 4 pm for it to be cleaned....

Me and my friends was surprise to get such kind of hotel for these little money what we had pay. We are were 3 persons and we got big room what was enough for us, bathroom was also big. The hotel is family run, and you are made to feel that you are in somebodys house, not a hotel. There are so many rules and regulations. That aside the hotel is in a great location 2 minutes walk from the lively bar area, and a good starting place for a days sightseeing. The rooms are small but clean, but...

The customer is always right is a concept invented by a customer. He's right who is polite, courteous and sympathetic to anyone who is doing a job in which the client is not competent. Why after 12 hours spent smiling, explain, listen, answer the phone, respond to email and, in the midst of all this, groped to work while the...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
