I haven’t felt so cheated since our trip in Marocco around 10 years ago. The resort is not bad by any means but nothing like five stars. The view is amazing and the premises are very good. But that’s where it mostly stops. Having paid a rather decent price for accommodation, we arrived to find ourselves trapped in a distant place of huge prices, poor offerings and rather bizarre service. The pool is nice and never too crowded. The sandy beach is also not bad but the water is suffocated by algae (live or dead). The “rocky” beach suffers from the pollution from the shuttle boat they use. See photos. There is only one restaurant and no outside bar ! They have “developed” a system of ordering by WhatsApp through which you would normally get what you wish where you are, whether at the beach or terrasse. It’s not bad, in particular if you can wait a bit, but it cannot compensate the lack of alternatives such as another 1-2 restaurants and better diversity in the food offering. The food is genuinely poor, even our young one could tell that the hamburger was dry and the spaghetti, which you could almost count in the plate, tasteless. I see that the chef is praised by other reviews, can only assume he was away… This is simply not a high level restaurant and I say that with some experience. Pity considering that Sicily has so much to offer, food wise. But they had … escalope Milanese and the dried hamburger…. No proper grill menu - in particular fish (one meager option) - no proper local dishes and so on …. Five or six a la carte choice - rest is buffet / room service type. The portions are minuscule. Perhaps considering themselves a “gourmet” place, they squeeze even traditionally large dishes into microscopic sizes. They even manage to reduce the wonderful traditional cannoli to dimensions that almost require reading glasses. Maybe this is an attempt to place themselves amongst the Michelin type of restaurants that indeed offer culinary pleasure via small and repeated portions - but the only thing connecting them with those is their prices. They could use for inspiration the Al Mazari restaurant in town (Michelin guide) where we ate an amazing meal including lobster, squid and king prawns for a fraction of their price … Maybe because we didn’t have to order twice to eat once … This brings me to prices. To me charging 22 eur for a soup, 28 eur for a bad burger, 29 eur for a tiny grilled and dry fish steak … and so on, is rather offending . I attach a photo of the filet with pomegranate dressing. You’ll see this dressing as the tiny red line drawn on the plate. I’ve tried to taste it but the fork and knife weren’t small enough to pick it up. No other option around apart from a nice place 2.1 km by foot (onda blue) in the scorching feet. Trapped. People are indeed super nice but it seems that management has gone out of their way to find staff who don’t speak English. They believe they do, it seems, because often they take your order only to get it wrong. Same at the reception - while the level of English is slightly better, it’s still reflective of something like level 2 of 5 (so to speak). They charge more to get you across the bay to Syracuse than the taxis (for a family of 3). Then they charge for each hour you’re there although they don’t keep the boat waiting for you and you have to adapt your schedule to theirs. The bill (or actually its absence) is another offense (probably not only figuratively but also literally, legally speaking). They bring the orders but don’t provide any receipt. Then you get a long list of hundreds or euros marked as “restaurant” or “pool order” and so on. You have to take their word for it, in our case a word worth well over 1,500 eur of non-understandable items. I am under no illusion that my review will make any difference. Most of reviews on TripAdvisor are positive. Perhaps it is a case of emperor has not cloths or perhaps, once spending so much, people like to give good reviews to feel better about their experience. Or they’re not bothered connecting the price with the quality as perhaps money is no object to theM. However, I wrote my impressions in detail for those who come here after a year of hard work and might be frustrated by what we experienced. We left with a bitter taste similar to having been mugged. Not because we couldn’t afford it but because feeling mugged has nothing to do with one’s purchasing power. We could have accepted the English level, the limited food range, the food quality, as the setting is beautiful and people are nice. But when everything is geared towards squeezing the maximum from the (limited number) of tourists, then it’s too much. As I said, it’s not a bad place. But there are so many resorts within this price range offering so much more. To us it was like going for a ride in an Alfa (better than Fiat) and being charged for a Ferrari…. Alfas are lovely, don’t get me wrong, but you get my drift. It is what it is, we now put it down to lessons learnt and move on. There are 2 good things however. One is that Syracuse is great. The second was that didn’t feel as bad as in other years leaving back home.

We enjoyed the breakfast, hot tub and pool. The rooms and gym were small but adequate for our needs. It was a nice place to relax after seeing the sights and having dinner in Siracusa. We definitely enjoyed the 10-15 minute boat ride to the town center. There are a lot of kids here so don’t expect quiet time by the pool. There are also nice spots by the sea to go for a swim or have a drink. Just be aware that the boat captain charges €30-35 per person round trip to Siracusa and the front desk quoted €20-25 per person. Our traveling companions felt the hotel was stingy with the water service.

Me and my family spent a week at the Minareto in July 2022 and sadly felt pretty disappointed. Very far from being a 5 star hotel in my eyes. - The hotel is in the middle of nowhere with nothing near by, a taxi to town to eat was costing £60 per day return so bare this in mind if you don’t have a car - The hotel does not have a bar and you have to order anything over a silly WhatsApp system, no atmosphere at all which is a shame because the resort is crying out for a bar / entertainment. - breakfast is okay, standard continental but the food in the one restaurant and room service is genuinely horrendous. Extremely expensive and tasteless, £28 for a pasta with 12 tubes of pasta served?! Cost aside the hotel should be ashamed of the food it’s serving. - Sandy beach is very clogged with sea weed and the public side is much clearer - Lack of management around and severe lack of English speaking staff, when we were checking out we were not asked how our stay was etc, just simply presented with a bill, The good - -Rooms and hotel grounds were always spotless - Views over the Med were very pretty - Felt safe on site

It’s a place of relaxation. My wife and I spent five days in Minareto following to a trip to Siracusa for business purpose. The location is magnificently built on the rock overseeing the Mediterranean sea. You can lay down on the beach or the pool and enjoy the sunny weather. You can also dive in the sea or you can take the boat for a short ride to the magic Ortygia Island. The room and the bathroom are quite large, clean and neat. The service is cordial and the personnel extend hospitality and provide fast service. We enjoyed very much our stay! I cannot conclude prior to give an excellent review to the Chef Fredderico and its tasty Italian and Sicilian cuisines. A very talented Chef. Chapeau bas! Hats off!

The Minareto is advertised as a 5 star, whilst it certainly is not that, it is very well presented, clean and modern. We received a free upgrade following a misunderstanding regarding our room and transferred to a jacuzzi suite for the remainder of our stay. Strangely though the Jacuzzi went green on day two and there were lots of mosquitoes which we could not control with sprays and plug-ins (perhaps a garden location had caused us to suffer with many bites during the time we were there). One of the most convenient things at this hotel was the communication by WhatsApp, The reception team were great and would tell you if there was live music, take your order for delivery to your room, by the pool or on your beach sun bed. The staff are great. Everyone from the breakfast waiters and waitresses, to the porters, the evening dinner waiters and the reception team were very helpful and genuinely wanted you to have a good time and a lovely holiday. We would highly recommend a visit to the spa and a massage treatment, Leanna and Stefania were excellent. Whilst the visit was very pleasant, there were some downsides, for example you need a taxi to travel anywhere if you don’t hire a car. A one-way trip to Ortigia will cost you 30 euros, a trip to the restaurant down the road will cost you 30 euro too. The taxi boat has to be booked in advance, it’s not a hop on hop off service, this is 15 euro per person one way 20 euro return. A glass of milk was 6 euro, the food is very expensive and limited in range. The breakfast is buffet style, a nice range of juices and milks, great coffee, pastries, cold meat and cheeses as well as kitchen orders of eggs done your way, crepes, pancakes and lots of other tasty treats. There is also bacon and sausage for the Brits! 😎 The place is spotlessly clean, with mature gardens and the most amazing sunsets and beautiful sea views. There were weddings on the terraces when we were there, whilst beautiful to witness, the guests command the terraces and other places around the hotel are made up to be temporary dining spots. Not ideal really, but nevertheless, it didn’t really effect the enjoyment of our holiday. We would return but would hire a car next time, you almost feel a bit stuck out on a limb. Sicily was everything we thought it would be and our stay at the Minareto was pleasant and relaxing.

Excellent, friendly & helpful staff. Anthony is the kindest and friendliest porter you could ever meet. The whole team go out of their way to help you and make you feel welcome. The resort is absolutely beautiful and the staff take pride in keeping it in perfect condition. Every room has beautiful views but I suggest upgrading to a Sea view, it is magical. The private beach and sunbathing area, means you do not need to leave the resort. There is a water taxi that takes 15 minutes to sail to the island of Ortiga. A place full of artistic and medieval wonders. I will definitely return to this healing and magical place.

My sister and I stayed at the Minareto 2 years ago and loved it so much we came back this year. We were welcomed back with a room upgrade and a bottle of prosecco, which we sat drinking on our stunning terrace overlooking Ortigia Island. The hotel had done some beautiful renovations since our last visit. Breakfast is gorgeous, overlooking the sparkling bay, and the lady in charge is kind and speaks great English. Buffet is huge and you can choose a la carte stuff as well for no extra charge. You can swim from Sandy Beach or Rocky Beach, both are lovely. Staff at the front desk are so kind and smiley, especially Irena. They even helped me track down a fruit knife that I'd brought from home (to eat my Sicilian peaches on my patio!) when it accidentally got cleared away by Housekeeping. How they tracked it down I'll never know, but I got it back! My one top tip would be that you need a hire car if you choose this hotel. Then you can visit Syracuse for the evening, and pop to the Lidl just outside Syracuse, to bring a little picnic to the hotel. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant as we love eating in a town square on Ortigia Island. Thank you Minareto, we will definitely be back again!

A wonderful hotel with great amenities! We stayed here four nights and enjoyed the serenity, away from the hustle bustle of Siracusa. We swam in the Ionian Sea. I wish I had brought my snorkel, because there were so many fish near the sandy cliff beach. Breakfasts were awesome. I loved my gluten free crepes and other GF options. The hotel’s WhatsApp messaging was great. The staff were responsive and very professional. The hotel is 15 minutes away from Ortigia (Siracusa). You need a land or water taxi to get there.

Our 4th trip to Sicily, and the loveliest place we have stayed thus far! We initially booked for 14 nights, and extended for another 3 nights. Gorgeous location amidst the natural landscape of the Plemmirio landscape, lovely and very clean All round excellent service - especially Merve at reception who booked our several rentals and trips and answered our many questions ... and Melania at breakfast who made everything run smoothly. Throughout our stay, the place was quiet, peaceful and well managed, despite one wedding and subsequently one convention, which we hardly noticed as these events were kept well separated and did not in any way impair service for the rest of the guests - bravo, well done! The lunch and dinner items were always fresh and tasty, but pricey relative to what was served - however there are several excellent and reasonably priced restaurants within 10 minutes walking distance, most of which provide takeout service - especially recommend L'Onda Blu and La Fornace. The hotel's communication method based on whatsapp worked incredibly well - food orders, other requests and questions were promptly responded to. Only two minor mix-ups when we ordered for room service a salmon club sandwich and received the chicken version ... and when we ordered fried fish and received french fries. While the pool area was always clean, i wished that: • at the rocky beach, they might collect the glasses/dishes left LONG after guests finished eating there (trays were left by the lounge chairs attracting insects, etc) - why can't these be removed several times per day? ... or provide an enclosed area where guests can put their empty trays? • at the rocky beach, they would clean the garbage that occasionally the waves brought unto the rocks in the shallow water area - the same plastic bottle and juice carton remained in the water throughout our stay ... why can't the guy who comes every night to close the umbrellas also check for and remove garbage washed ashore (or blown down from sun lounges)? • at the sandy beach, they might do a better job of raking the sand and shallow water of seaweed and any debris brought in by the waves after choppy weather ... also note that the small sandy beach is separated into 2 parts - public and private (Minareto) ... meanwhile, the public part was always crystal clear but on the Minareto side the WATER was always FULL of seaweed (the sand was usually raked) ... so we only used the rocky beach for our entire stay (after checking the sandy beach every day). Overall, a wonderful stay, like a 2nd honeymoon - thank you to all staff, we look forward to returning❣
