We stayed here in March - in one of the junior suite rooms facing the sea. The hotel was wonderful - a lovely renovation of an old palace. The location is perfect - on the quieter side of Ortigia but close to the sights. The staff were very helpful especially Magda, Dina, Sabrina and Marcello. We only ate breakfast at...

The hotel is really charming. An old building completely refurbished with attention to details. The painted ceilings, the tiles, the lightening, everything was perfect. It is wonderful to get lost in the tiny streets of Ortigia and the hotel location makes you easily walk to museums, castle, market, piazzas and restaurants. And if you want to go a little bit...

The only way to describe this beautiful boutique hotel and it's staff. The hotel nestled back from the seafront exemplifies the authenticity of Ortigia. We stayed four nights over Easter and although the hotel was busy, the cleverly designed space and fabulous, smiling staff made us feel like we were the only guests. From special requests to recommendations, advice and...

Whoever got to design the bedrooms in this refurbished building had a great time, and I love the results. The restrained public areas highlight the old elements of wood, plaster and the architectural details, but the bedrooms have moments of opulence. The bathroom tiles are giddy with detail and colour, and our room had a screen of amber glass on...

Hospitable staff, good location, large room, great breakfast - perfect for a long weekend. Friendly welcoming email sent in advance, a nice touch. Also follow-up email in a similar vein. Nice toiletries. Free water, wine, tea, coffee and nuts. Complimentary bicycle (including electric) hire! Located on a busy island, so expect a little noise at night. Wasn't an issue for...

I chose this hotel from Tripadvisor and we were delighted with our choice. The staff were very welcoming on arrival at Reception, particularly Dina. Breakfasts and service were excellent - anything you like all included in the room rate - best coffee. It is most unusual to have in-room complimentary soft drinks and water topped up daily - such a...

We (mum, dad and ten yr old daughter) spent a week at the Algila Ortigia Charme Hotel in a Junior Suite and just had a ball. A room with a balcony overlooking the harbour, quite and really well serviced (thanks Sabrina M for all your help!). Our daughter is a hotel brekkie fiend and this one surpassed her standards...not your...

We have had a superbly comfortable and convivial stay in this beautiful hotel. The staff, especially Sabrina M, have been especially helpful and arranged everything we asked their help with. We certainly hope to return before long.

Stayed here for 1 night. Staff very helpful, location nice (old palazzo). The best part was breakfast: the best we had during our entire roundtrip. The room was small but nicely furnished. The room perfume might not be everyones taste. Unfortunately there is no terrace, so you have to eat inside (but its nice). I suggest you park the car...

This boutique hotel was also centrally located in the historic center and had great sea views. The unique thing about this hotel was that everything was free, breakfast, mini bar usage in room, and telephone calls back to the USA!!! Never been to a hotel that had all that included!! The hotel had an amazing restaurant for not just breakfast...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel is located in an exquisite ancient building on the waterfront of Ortigia, the historic centre of Syracuse. Giving onto the ancient "Mastra Rua," where the Siracusan nobility resided from the 14th century, the hotel is a starting point for cultural itineraries. Its recent restoration maintains the original structure made of three buildings, contributing to its dynamic layout. Rooms are furnished differently with antique furniture, four-poster beds and refined interior decoration with distinctive Sicilian touches and Mediterranean features such as colorful bathrooms tiles. ... more   less
