Just a lovely B&B on the border of the city, the rooms were spacious, ours was on the street side but blacked out completely and was intensely quiet, so we got some great sleep. The staff was friendly, breakfast could have been better but for what we've paid we were happy. Also there's free street parking which came in very handy as we had a rental!

Hotel Orleans is a fairly difficult place to get to. I used the taxi (and got ripped off), the bus (and was pick-pocketed).. Fortunately the subway worked OK for me and once a kind Palermo person showed me how to use the ticketing system it worked fine. Unfortunately the hotel is not manned for most of the day, which is very inconvenient, especially when you arrive after a long trip. This was especially annoying as I tried to make some arrangements with them via email prior to arrival but there was not a lot of helpful response. Also if something goes wrong (like the internet stops working, there is no-one there to help you). Rooms are spacious and clean, but I would not suggest walking around after dark as I dont think it is so safe. There is a nice supermarket around the corner. Not my best experience of Italy over the years.

The hotel is cca. 20 min. away from the main station, a little bit tough to find, but nice for the price. There was no staff to receive us so they told us through intercom that we take the key to our room ourselves. The room was average, averagely clean but they left the window open and a looot of mosquitos were spending the night with us, bring some protection. The breakfast was nice, staff ok, overall for the price, ok.

Very nice, comfortable, clean and friendly B&B. Easy to get to from the airport. Metro to Orleans, and it is about 5 mins walk away. We both loved the area, very working class. workshops cutting glass for doors and windows, and family life on the street. Staff were waiting for us as we had told them what time we would arrive, daytime staff have little English but our Italian was good enough for them. The young woman that works in the afternoon and evenings has very good/near perfect English. They were all as helpful as it was possible to be. Room was large, overlooking the courtyard/garden breakfast room. Breakfast was adequate, croissant, brioche, jam, honey and very good coffee. Like almost all of Italy and France, the "juice" was weak and rather odd. Bed was large, clean and comfortable. The room was fine and the bathroom was superb, everything worked well. We really enjoyed our week in Hotel Orleans and intend to return for our New Year break.

The rooms are big and the hotel is absolutely comfortable. The staff makes you feel like you're at home, Carmelo is fantastic! The neigborhood is not nice, but Palermo is just like that, and if you're looking for an acommodation near the university, Hotel Orleans it's probably the best choice. Of course I cannot forget mentioning the coffee: it's italian!!!

Hotel Orleans in Palermo is an absolute dump. The staff are rude, incompetent and cannot string a sentence together in English. From the moment I arrived I was treated with contempt and as though my business was simply not good enough. Wifi is weak, breakfast was stale and when I asked for a taxi for an early morning flight, they FORGOT to book the taxi and I ended up missing my flight! Do not stay here, it is an absolutely appalling place to stay. It is so far away from the city centre, no places to eat and situated right in the middle of the slums! Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money!

This lovely little hotel is a little way away from the centre and the station, hidden down a little backstreet but inside is a little gem. The bed and room was nice and big and clean. The breakfast selection was lovely but the second morning a few of the staff had a bit of an argument inside in Italian. The breakfast room also had a lovely garden space which had birds singing. There was rarely any staff in the building so if you wanted a wifi password or something I wouldn't have known how to get hold of them other than to call the buzzer by the gate (which we did on our arrival and had to wait for the man to come over from the other hotel they own). Sorry to sound negative but the above are the things that are strongest in my memory. The hotel itself, regardless of location etc, is clean, big and comfortable so good value.

The hotel is really nice and well worth the price: big rooms, quiet, clean, excellent breakfast (real coffee, fruit juice, fruits, cheese and ham...) but if you stay several nights, you might be tired of walking there and back to the city center, crossing the same dodgy and filthy areas (it's funny the first time).

I travelled solo to Palermo, Hotel Orleans is literally a stones throw away from Orleans Station in Palermo. Hotel Orleans is a nice hotel, has everything you need but the best part is the helpful staff, the gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. My room was a single and next to the road, you could hear the traffic but it did not bother me, some people coming back late to the hotel were not very quiet but that can be the case anywhere! Palermo is a very mad city, looks a little tired and grubby. That said it was fine as a base and you could jump on the trains or buses to the beaches. Plenty of things to see and do in Palermo. The markets are great and there are quite a few of them throughout the city. The hotel was at the other end to all the tourist areas but you are still within walking distance to them all. I was very happy with the hotel and the location, I would go back and stay at the hotel again. For a quieter more relaxed beach holiday I would recommend Chefalu - beautiful place, plenty to see and do if you wanted to and again great train service. The people of Sicily are very helpful and pleasant which makes it an easy destination to go to. If you have not been it is a must, I would hire a car and travel around so you can see the whole island. Palermo is one of the airports you can fly in to, as you can fly there from Stansted makes sense for me to go to this one. The weather was gorgeous when I went at the end of April - you are desperate for some sunshine by then!!

Palermo is full of character, by which we mean it is by turns dirty, noisy and fascinating. The hotel, as other reviewers have stated, is on a little street near the university and the hospital (you can hear the ambulances arrive throughout the day, but they were surprisingly not intrusive at night). Don't be put off on approach to the hotel; the surrounding area isn't particularly salubrious. However, behind the wrought iron gates is this little charmer of a hotel. Comprising of 8 rooms, ours was furnished simply but with everything you need. The bathroom was a good size, very clean and the water pressure in the shower was also highly satisfactory. There is a small patio area, which you can eat breakfast on, and a rough patch of garden. This outdoor space was a definite plus as sitting only in your hotel room can be a trifle stifling. Breakfast was continental: croissants, cheese, ham, yoghurts, cake that kind of thing. Nicely presented and available from 0700-1000. The reception is not manned full time, but the porter/receptionist/everything else man was there in the morning from about 0700-1300 and he was very helpful and pleasant. He speaks some English (considerably more than our Italian) and made phone calls for us and generally sorted us out, e.g. such as making suggestions of good things to visit and see. We didn't see anyone else help him: he is a one-man band, and a good one too. If you do need assistance (afternoons / evenings) there is a sister hotel a couple of hundred yards up the road that does have a full time reception.
