Stayed for two nights in the newer part of the hotel. Our room had an enormous deck with superb views of the city and port. The decor was a little strange - but the round bed was surprisingly comfortable. There is a jacuzzi on the roof which the staff filled for us, but we thought it was a hot tub and were confused when it wouldn't heat. We took an Uber to and from town, which was very easy and more reasonable than taxis. The breakfast was an ample buffet, and the restaurant in the hotel is a lovely, white-washed cellar with a menu that is a good introduction to Sicilian cuisine. Everyone at the hotel from reception, to wait staff, was incredibly hospitable and helpful. We would return most definitely, but would stay in the older section.

Stayed for 4 nights beginning of October. We checked in around midday (Tuesday 4th October) & I asked about the complimentary shuttle bus service to the city. We were told it wasn’t complimentary & if we wanted to get to the centre of Catania, it would be €20 Euros (one way!!) We stayed in the VDB Next-which is the modern side of the hotel next to the old part. Room was modern, complimentary water. Because we had a long trip, we decided to go to the hotel restaurant at night. It’s very expensive, not much choice-wouldn’t recommended! Breakfast is located on the top floor providing great views of the city & Mount Etna. There is a bus stop outside of the hotel but we were advised not to use it as the times weren’t reliable & several people we spoke to, said they often waited over an hour for the bus. We used mainly Taxis-but it was so expensive due to how far out the hotel is from the centre. It costs around €40 euros to get from the airport to the hotel. If we went again, I’d advise anyone to stay in the centre of Catania. The hotel is a long way from the centre, too far & dangerous to walk across roads to get to the centre. On our last day I asked again about the complimentary shuttle bus service. This time (different person) I was told there was a complimentary shuttle service which runs from 9:30 and returns at 15:30. I was a bit disappointed we were told different when we initially checked in & it wasn’t until I asked again! Due to these reasons, I wouldn’t advise to stay here, find a hotel nearer the centre! You’ll save money in the long run!

We have never experienced such wonderful hospitality in any hotel as we enjoyed at Villa Del Bosco. Every member of staff was so friendly and helpful we were sad to leave. My partner became ill whilst we were away and the hotel helped call the paramedics, translated for us and the arranged medication from the dispensing pharmacy. They even called a cab so I could get up there before it closed. The genuine concern shown by the staff was really touching. On a prosaic level, all the staff were very helpful with tips and advice on places to go and on getting around. The food and drinks were delicious. It is a city hotel and most guests don’t stay more than a few days so the menu choice was not huge but everything we tried was great and they even prepared a couple of dishes on request. The hotel is located in a residential area just north of the city Center. It suited us to be away from the bustle of town. Not many city Center hotels have a pool and in the august heat it was heavenly to have a dip in the afternoon. The pool is not large but we always found enough sun beds. The rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet. Lovely big, comfy beds. What made it for us was the staff. Everyone just so friendly, kind and helpful. We look forward to coming back!

A party of 3 working in Catania between 21st - 28th May. A beautiful hotel full of charm and character. Spotlessly clean. It is a haven of tranquility and great to come back to, in total contrast to the life and pulsating energy of Catania. The biggest asset is the staff. Highly efficient, competent, caring and really made our stay such a positive experience from start to finish. It is a little way out of the city - 15 mins in a taxi - but there is a bus service that operates 25 metres from the Hotels main gates, and it is very good value. I couldn't recommend the hotel highly enough - in fact it is so good I have rebooked for another week at the beginning of July.

Absolutely incredible! I have to highlight that Debra at the front desk is so helpful and kind. She talked us through recommendations whilst staying here in Catania and gave great advice. She is a credit to the hotel. Cant recommend enough.

Last minute booking and stay in this beautiful hotel. We didn't have the biggest room, since it was booked for 1 originally. The balcony was very nice, enjoyed the late afternoon sun. Breakfast was good, the cappuccino to die for. We had dinner in the restaurant every night and it was superb. You can recognise a good restaurant by the size of it's menu and this was just perfect. Not too many dishes, so quality was guaranteed. The swordfish was sublime! We did notice that this hotel has suffered from all the restrictions during the pandemic, they weren't fully staffed when we stayed here. However the staff was extremely friendly and helpful and going out of their way to make us as comfortable as possible. We already booked our next stay in a little over a month. This will be our perfect weekend-get-away from now on!

Short: Don't stay here. I do not recommend this hotel to my family and friends. They are not transparent with regard to what is not working, they do not try to solve what is not working, and even if things - AC and WIFI - are not working they refuse to refund. Worst experience ever. I am now seeing similar stories to this one from one week ago, one month ago, etc. Just avoid this place. Details: At check in, I noticed that one of the receptionists wanted to say something to us but Ms. Claudia (one of the receptionists) didn't let her speak. I went to my room and noticed that 1. Wifi was not working, 2. AC was not working. It was 33ºC outside. I went to the reception and Ms. Claudia told me that they had a problem with AC and Wifi, which she could perfectly let me know 5 minutes before. I told her that I really needed the wifi, and she told me that maybe she could get a router for me, so I should wait for news in 20min. I went to my room and waited for 1hour. After this, I went to the reception and asked for a refund of my reservation. They refused. Furthermore, the room was full of dust, and they said that they would pick our bags from the car to the room, and in the 1hour that we stayed waiting, it didn't happen. The hotel is a mess. The pool is tiny compared to what it seems in the photos. Just avoid this place.

The hotel rooms are nothing like the pictures shown. We went in july and had no ac working or any fans and we asked them to fix it several times for nothing. Breakfast was repetitive and poor. And the staff wasnt helpfull at all We had to lift our laguage a whole level without elvators or any help. They also closed the gates after 12am and we waited 30 minutes outside until someone decided to open the gates after several times ringing the bell

We were supposed to be there for 4 nights, we left after 2. Promised a refund for one night 3 weeks ago- still waiting despite promises of ur last week. The hotel is 2.5 miles from the historic centre in a grim residential area. The bar area is lovely but that is about it. The first room they showed us smelt strongly of damp, carpets were filthy not a 4 stAr hotel in any sense. We were moved to new rooms my Mom said it was like being in a tin can! Rooms painted dark metallic grey including the ceilings with black light shades ..... so dark. Noise from function room horrendous, evidently no sound proofing. Breakfast was pretty awful, plastic cups for juice , little choice. There are much nicer hotels - avoid. The director wouldn’t even speak with us to discuss issues, made poor receptionist do it- they lie and have no regard for customers.
