I can't give a half rating otherwise it would be 3:5. Romano House is in a pretty good location in Catania for sightseeing, ( if you turn right out of the hotel you will walk into redlight area). Our room was on the ground floor...More
We had a large and very clean room. I moved to a better rated hotel as part of our tour and liked this hotel better.
Good location also.
Overall a nice and clean hotel which was walking distance to many min attractions.
Super helpful staff. Great location. Fantastic room with amazing character. The ceiling was had amazing plaster details. Very grand.
The barman/somellier was also very knowledgeable about wine and Prosecco! :)

As the hotel is smack dab in the centre of the city, there is a constant battle for parking. Having said that, we found it easy to find street parking all around the hotel but you have to be prepared to keep paying the meter. We didn't find this so intrusive actually as everything to see is within walking distance.
Another way to solve the problem is not to have a car in the city and rent one as required. There are lots of rental offices in the city for this purpose. In brief, fly in to Catania, take a bus or taxi into town, walk the city to see the sights and rent a car when you would like to.
