Detailed Reviews
The hotel is quite 1km away from the main piazza of Arena. It’s location is very convenient for those traveling by car , since there is an inward parking at an extra cost. The hotel is comfortable and spacious and its decoration in the main lobby is exceptional. The staff was gentle and welcome. I appreciated the lady in the reception ,while we checked in ,that she took care to give as a quiet room ,since we had a very early trip. The rooms were very comfortable, clean, modern and the mattress of the bed was super! WIFI quality was excellent .Breakfast was a standard buffet, but nothing special for a 4*hotel.
Breakfast could be better with a variety of hot dishes, pancakes, fresh espresso or cappuccino . Parking could be cheaper, as for a 6 hours accommodation,we spent a daily cost, as it was during the night. As a conclusion,Hotel Leon D’Oro is a very nice option close to VERONA city and definitely,I would recommend it.

We stayed 3 nights. Everything went smooth. Rooms are clean, towels changed every day. But the most importnant thing and the main reason why I am writting this review is following: I left my diamond ring on the table in my room, which had to fall down on the floor, so i did forget to put it on. After 5 hours of driving home being aprox on the half way home, i remembered my ring. I called my italien colleague and a good friend, who called the reception. After very helpful staff willing to look everywhere for my ring they find it inside of vaccumcleaner. I want to really say BIG thank you to everyone who helped to find my ring. My message to the hotel management: You can be proud of your team, who are helpful, and honest. I will pray for everyone who helped.
Thank you
Thank you

Having read previous reviews, my wife and I still decided to book the hotel via an easyJet 5 night break. However, the negative reviews were in fact correct. The hotel is large with a well presented foyer but the rooms are poor. The air con is not switched on until May despite the very warm temp in the room and we were told to open the windows. This was not a great success due to the windows keeping closing and the noise from the railway line during the night.
There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which is highly unusual nowadays especially for a so called 4* hotel. When I questioned this with Reception I was rudely told it was an economy room and it could be provided for €10 per day! Breakfast itself was average although on the Sunday it was a big queue to get into the breakfast room and a shambles due to food running out. I take de-caffeinated coffee and this was to prove a challenge during our trip due to lack of staff understanding how and where it could be done.
The wifi was poor due to the clumsy efforts required to log in. The room had only one socket available although a 1980's style unit next to the bed offered a radio!
Overall, as previous reviews have stated, the best feature of the hotel was its location to the train/bus station. Staff were overall unfriendly and although we will return in the future to the lakes we will not use this hotel.

Cordialmente.

Definitely not 4* hotel as it purported to be. On arrival the reception looks beautiful, don't be fooled by this, unfortunately the rooms are basic and grim. Apparently this hotel used to be a factory that has been converted. The windows are extremely small and hardly let any natural light in and the view of the car park is horrid. Our bathroom wasn't the cleanest it could be, black mould around the shower screen that had an appalling squeak when it was moved as Nd we had balls of dust moving round the floor like tumbleweed, my idea of cleaning and the maids idea are poles apart. The rooms are tired and in need of an upgrade, very basic and no tea or coffee making facilities. Breakfast wasn't great, coffee from a dispenser machine, no fresh juice, again powdered juice from a machine. Hot breakfast was scrambled eggs, cooked prosciutto ham, not bacon and frankfurters chopped in chunks. When my husband asked for fried eggs he was informed that would be EXTRA! The only good thing is that it's close to the train station, we travelled to Venice and Florence and Garda so only slept there. No pool either to have a nice swim so overall rather disappointing stay!

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in February with my mum. When we arrived we took a bus from the airport to the bus station in Verona which is across the road to Hotel Leon D’Oro - perfect! Literally a 10 min walk as you have to walk with the paths across the road etc. The check in was easy staff very helpful. Hand sanitizer in reception 👏 room was lovely and spacious, windows fully opened, bathroom was lovely very clean spotless, tv with sky. We had breakfast included which was lovely a variety of food crossaints, pastries, cereals, cheese, hams, fruit, English, a variety of tea, coffee, juice.
The hotel was a great location, you walk out of the hotel (lovely bar area outside on the water for a drink!) and it’s about 15 mins into the centre of Verona. You will do a lot of walking ! We walked everywhere the weather was beautiful though!
We had drinks in the hotel bar of an evening they have snacks for the guests olives crisps etc. The only downside I would say was the restaurant for dinner wasn’t great - but staff were lovely. Couldn’t fault the staff at all.
Overall - clean beautiful hotel with friendly helpful staff and great location.
Thank you for a lovely stay I wish you all well 🇮🇹 🏴 x

First time visiting Verona, we found the hotel in a fantastic location with only a 10minute walk into the centre of Verona and morealess around the corner of the station. We arrived at the hotel early, so therefore our room was not ready, however the staff were very helpful keeping our bags so that we could go and explore. Breakfast was included, however as we were catching an early train we did not have much to enjoy this fully.

We chose this hotel because it is dog friendly. The location was convenient, about 10 mins walk
from the train station and 15 mins walk to the arena. The room was clean and neutrally decorated and the bathroom was nice and spacious. However, the bed wasn’t so comfortable- the double was actually 2 singles put together so there was a gap down the middle. Breakfast was fine; cold meats, cheese, croissants, fruit, bread, eggs etc. Unfortunately the staff were not very friendly. Overall, a decent stay.

DO NOT STAY HERE!
More like a 1 or 2 star, definitely not 4!
Very dated hotel and very rude unhelpful staff.
The hotel is dated, lights didn’t work, lots of bugs in the room, noisy and shower leaked everywhere. My friend slipped due to the leaking shower and cut her leg, we informed reception. No apology or offer of help. The air con did not work, we were told it did, then it didn’t, then it did, but it didn’t.
The wardrobe door (heavy wood and glass) fell off when we opened it, this could have seriously injured someone. We informed reception and asked for this to be fixed and the lady laughed in our face. We had to keep chasing, eventually a Maintenance person came and said ‘oh f**k’.
The room was 24c (we were told by the receptionist) which was too hot to sleep in. We opened the window but it kept closing, we asked how we can keep it open and were told to put a towel in it or a piece of wood. It was so noisy and the room faces the motorway we hardly got any sleep.
Breakfast was a joke, the ‘hot’ items were all cold.
The staff were so rude and unhelpful, the only nice person was someone called Douglas who didn’t work on reception.
We were booked to stay here for 4 nights but checked out after 1 night as it was so awful, we moved to a 4 star nearby which is a 4 star! Much nicer and lovely helpful staff.
This place clearly doesn’t care about its customers having seen their reply’s to peoples reviews.
I would not recommended this place.

Cordialmente.

The hotel was located near the main train station, only less than 10 minutes walk, but not that close to the city center, about 20 minutes walk. The classic double room we stayed in was decent sized and clean. However, everything inside the room was a little outdated, including bed sheets and comforter cover which was thin and worn out. The booking site states the room we stayed in is equipped with a 32 inch TV and Down Comforter. But the reality was the room only had a very small TV, less than 20 inch, and a very stiff comforter, definitely not a down comforter. Another thing to be mentioned here: there was no tea kettle in the room. When I asked the receptionist if I can borrow one, I was told it cost 10 euro per night. We stayed there for 5 nights. So it would have costed me 50 euro just to use a tea kettle for 5 days!?

Barbara Agos

Had the most pleasant stay at this hotel, I rode the scooter 🛴 straight from the train station to outside the hotel. Train stations less than 10 mins away, 5 mins on the scooter lol. Central and the arena I also rode the scooter there. Staff were amazing, breakfast was delicious the view from my room of the river was so beautiful. Lastly the room was so amazing and is more spacious than most double rooms. I will definitely be back if I am ever in Verona again. Thank you Leon D’oro
