My family and I loved this place. Location is great, service is very attentive, and the property is beautiful. Everything we asked for was handled with a smile and was never too much trouble. The breakfast selection and service was better than expected. We loved every aspect of our stay at this hotel.

The excellent service we received from every member of the team at Palazzo Stern moves this hotel from being good to great. Junior suite was large and well maintained - housekeeping was excellent throughout. Hotel location, next to the water bus stop, was So Convenient! Only minor downsides were the lack of shower gel, (all other standard hotel toiletries are...

This hotel was in a perfect location on the Grand Canal. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was overly helpful and friendly. Our favorite was the gentleman who carried our bags. Having breakfast on the patio was a perfect way to start the day with good food and even better coffee. I can't wait to return and...

We stayed here the last part of June for 3 magical nights. The staff is excellent, friendly, and helpful. The room was beautiful- large comfortable and a great view of the Grand Canal. Definitely worth the extra $$ !! The valporetta stop adjacent to the hotel was key to getting around Venice and extremely convenient. A special treat was the...

This is a fantastic hotel. Beautiful hotel/room, easy to access location and great service. The large quadruple suite had a separate master bedroom - so hard to find when travelling with kids. Added bonus is that it has one of the only terraces right on the Grand Canal: the perfect place to have breakfast/drinks and watch the bustle of the...

Our four night stay at the Palazzo Stern was for a very special occasion, our 25th wedding anniversary, so we pushed the boat out a little (or should that be gondola......sorry) Transfer from Marco Polo Airport by the Alilaguna Orange Line (26 euros return) takes nearly one hour, but you are dropped off at Ca' Rezzonico, just a few yards...

Buongiorno! Thanks to you for this very nice review! You are right when you say that we have many original pieces of art in the hotel, the oldest one is from the 2nd century! Traghetto Gondola works only in the morning unfortunately! But the vaporetto work always from very early in the morning until late evening so it's very easy...

I took my father and his wife plus children to Venice to celebrate his 70th birthday, and we lall had a fabulous time! The staff were wonderful, the kids loved the beautiful hotel and the location couldnt have been better. Walking your feet-off in Venice is mandatory and to be able to hop off the Vaperetto directly outside the hotel...

My wife and I stayed here for a short getaway vacation. We thoroughly enjoyed the hotel, the location and the staff. We are very seasoned travelers and typically stay at the nicer range of hotels, and this hotel far exceeds anyplace we have stayed in terms of beauty and location. I cannot fault this small hotel. The location is unbeatable, right at the ca rezzonica vaporetto stop or a delightful 5-7 min stroll through winding alleyways to the Accadema bridge. In the evenings it is a 2 min walk to the lovely campo San Barnaba or 5 mins to campo Santa margherita both with delightful and reasonably priced bars and...

Buongiorno! I'm very happy to know that you enjoyed your stay with us. Unfortunately we cannot do all the things that we would like on the terrace. We are on the Grand Canal and in Venice there are very strict (and sometime ridiculous) rules that involve also the furnitures. We always try to improve anyway! :o) We all look forward...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
