Stayed here in the "family room", expecting two adjoining rooms as per the other reviews. We were shown to one room with two extra beds, which would only be fine if you were traveling with small children, otherwise it is a squeeze. I asked the hotel to book transfers from the airport and they told me it was €150 for...

Lovely small hotel just a few hundred metres from St Marks Square. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The family room that we had (adjoining double and single rooms, each with en suite bathrooms) was small but comfortable. The included breakfast buffet was extensive (the pear and chocolate tart was delicious!) but be aware that the downstairs dining room...

The staff at the hotel made our stay very pleasant! And the location is excellent! Quiet and close to many major sites and also right on the canals. We stayed with 2 children (10 & 5) and had plenty of room in their family room.

My husband and I traveled to Venice this month. We stayed for 3 nights in Hotel Becher. This hotel ticked all the boxes for us. We loved that it is within walking distance to all major attractions. St. Mark Square, St. Mark's Basilica and Doge's Palace are within a 5-minute walk from the Hotel. The Grand Canal and Santa Maria...

Wonderful staff - I had a problem with some travel documents and they couldn't be more helpful. Terrific location and easy walk to everywhere - just beautiful. Small and elegant. A sense of luxury without ostentation. Firm beds. Expansive breakfast.

We had an excellent stay at the Hotel Becher. It is a small hotel, very well maintained, with a very helpful staff. They provided us with much useful information on events, places, water buses, taxis, etc., and also made arrangements for some of our activities. The decor is very "Venitian" and the rooms are comfortable with modern facilities. It is...

Lovely hotel for a couple's getaway. Located in a nice spot with easy access to St Mark's square and Rialto bridge. Featured beautiful glass chandeliers and balcony over the canal. Breakfast was a delicious spread and the best we had. Just bring some bug spray or be sure to keep your windows closed, as we had a couple mosquitos get...

I totally agree with the most recent reviews. This is a great place. Our room was a bit small but who cares, you are there to see the sights. I was surprised to find that our room had a balcony. The staff was great. A solid breakfast. Very close to St Marks and Le Fenice. High end shopping is just...

Lovely, romantic room, very good breakfast, great location and wonderful staff. The breakfast area was a little tight but it was only a problem on our last morning there. Ate on the patio by the canal, but the weather was rainy so it wasn't as lovely as it could have been. A/C was a problem initially but it was handled...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
