The hotel is a small friendly hotel. The location was only a 15 minute walk from San Marco Sqquare, ideal for us. It was clean, we were well looked after, well fed at breakfast with a very good selection, we found when we asked for or about something, it was always attended to. We would certainly return and in fact,...

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights straight after our wedding and we wasn't disappointed!! The hotel staff was very helpful and went out their way to make our stay comfortable! It's the first hotel I have come across that has wifi in the bedroom and a huge bath tub! The views from the hotel you could see into...

We had a wonderful short break in Venice, hotel is well located and in a lovely quiet spot. Breakfast is good and the rooms are ok, but a few more little touches (water in the room, robes etc) could help. We also found the room exceptionally hot at night, opened the windows and then attacked by mosquitoes- and this is...

We were told on arrival that one of us had been given an upgrade (two single rooms had been booked) My sister said I should have the "upgrade" as it was my birthday. Well an "upgrade" it was not. The bed was uncomfortable and the most weird looking thing I've ever seen with big gaps at either end. The bathroom...

The hotel is very conveniently located-near to St.Mark and to Accademia bridge;it was easy to find it using Google maps. The staff was very polite, very efficient, discreet and ready to help with everything. The room was without view of Grand Canal and without balcony/although I'd requested if possible/, but was comfortable;great mattress;well seized bathroom and clean. The breakfast was not very diversified...

The rooms are very dated. No slippers, no water, no USB charging in the room. No aircon during this season. Breakfast is very limited. You have to pay €7 for scrambled eggs. They serve very cold hard boiled eggs. The ambiance is kinda creepy

We picked Hotel Dragomanni primarily for its star rating and it's central location. We weren't disappointed on both counts. The room was clean and of a high standard. Breakfast was the usual continental type and all the usual items were available. The only thing I would criticise with the breakfast was trying to catch the waitress for a coffee or...

Lovely rooms and staff very helpful. A pipe burst and drenched all my cloths and half the room in the middle of the night. The staff cleaned all the cloths and had me in a new room in half an hour with a glass of brandy and apologies for the next few days from all the staff. A little out...

Our Canal View Double Room was delightful. Very comfy large bed, plenty of room to move around, bar fridge, safe and a lovely little balcony. Block out blinds were on all the windows and would be very usueful in the summer months (although in the winter months they are not necessary). The bathroom was fabulous with a large Roman bath/shower,...

Nice friendly hotel in a great location close to the Grand Canal and St Mark's. Room a little dated but breakfast was good. Would stay here again. Hotel staff were very helpful and check-in was efficient.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
