Convenient location: close to Saint Mark's Square and not much longer walk to Ponte di Rialto. For first time visitor in Venezia 2 most important places. Good promos in off peak season. It is a small hotel (less than 20 rooms) with very friendly staff. Clean and quite.

The welcome could not have been friendlier and everyone was very helpful. Our room was beautiful, there is excellent free wifi and the breakfast very good. The location is perfect being very close to St Marks Square. Overall we were delighted with the hotel and will certainly stay here again for future visits.

We stayed in Room 201 just up from the entry 1 flight of stairs. It was facing the street but proved to be very quiet. The room was adequate size, with quite a nice updated decor. The bathroom was very small but modern. The concierge Frederico was so gracious, helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was not huge but very adequate...

We booked this hotel on Booking.com (only to find later that the prices were cheaper direct with the hotel - and Booking.com have not yet met their price match promise!). The hotel only has around 8 en-suite rooms. Ours was a twin. It was spotless with a great bathroom. The hotel is in a quiet street and was hard to...

We had 2 superior rooms booked - one of the top rooms plus one lower down due to age of my mother. When we arrived at 0930 there was no left luggage area for 4 suitcases plus 4 pullalongs- told to leave all luggage in lobby area straight off street where we felt it could be stolen from, not happy...

A great hotel in a great location. The Relais Venezia is a really charming little place situated about a 3 minute walk from st marks square and a 5 minute walk from the Rialto. The staff in the hotel are very friendly and helpful, giving you clear directions to the top tourist attractions. We stayed in one of the top...

In Venice for a wedding with parents. Staff were great with our lost flight luggage, knowing who to call and chase. Rooms are nice in an original building tastefully respected and renovated. Clear 2 years older than last stay, but both myself and my parents enjoyed the rooms, breakfast and location! Great aircon in the July heat!

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
