I stayed with my girlfriend in hotel for two nights. Its difficult to find check-in building so get a map or mobile navigation. The hotel is on good position; restaurants and others shops are close. We had double room - bad was double but probably two single together because in the middle was hole. Room was small but nice. Bathroom... More

Like others have mentioned, you have to check in a separate location, but that was no problem and the clerk spoke very good English. He was able to direct us to the San Lio and it was a very short walk (1 or 2 minutes). The room (rm 103) was very nice looking but the bed took up >75% of... More

This hotel was difficult to find. Have to go around the block to another place to check in and out. The room was not like those shown in the photos that the hotel displays. Some of the rooms do appear to be like those in the pictures, however ours had out dated decor. The television did not work properly (kept... More

Like everyone else it was hard to find and you actually go to another hotel to check in.The staff were helpful and efficient. We were given a nice room (106) which was over a shop that played load music until 10:30 at night very hard to sleep. Asked if we could move and we got the Matilda room quite and... More

This is a quirky little hotel. The room itself was plenty big (we booked a double), the bathroom was tiny but clean and everything worked (water pressure and temperature), you have to pay for the internet but it works well and you really cannot beat the location. It’s very close to good restaurants, fun bars and some of the major... More

My boyfriend and I booked an extra night to stay in Venice after our cruise. The room was excellent. Very clean and new. But one down side was that our air conditioning did not seem to work properly...so it was a bit stuffy. The internet was really fast though. The hotel itself was a bit difficult to find at first... If you enjoy sleeping in a closet this place is fine. The air conditioning was broken and they did not care. The internet did not work and they did not care. The photo is deceiving . The location is very hard to find and first you have to stop at one location then go to another location to check in... More

You threatened us with the Tripadvisor review to steal us 78,00 euros and you made it….well done!! To be fair i'd like to explain to all the honest customers and colleagues of Tripadvisor what happened: the customer booked a double economy room for 3 nights through booking.com,after the first night the customer complained about the size of the room telling... Arrived in this maze of a city of the Rialto vaperetto station and stumbled right to the door. I can see how it can be tricky to find but what isn't in Venice? Staff at check in was very helpful and friendly. Cleaning staff were great too. Typical European size and comfortable. Right next to the Rialto bridge and a... More

Although expensive, make sure that you take several days to explore Venice. Very close to Rialto Bridge. Try to travel light, we had fours weeks worth of luggage and after a trans-Atlantic flight via Rome it was a bit of an effort to walk from the Rialto boat taxi to the hotel. The check-in had to be done from another... More

My boyfriend and I recently stayed here in August. We were upgraded to the Matilda room and enjoyed Venice very much because we had no issues with our stay. Check in is at a nearby location but it was not an issue. The rooms are newly remodeled, small but still inviting. A hotel representative can be reached 24/7.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
