For the fifth year in a row, we spent multiple nights at Ca Doge ... this time four nights. We like very much everything Ca Doge has to offer. With a rental car, the parking is perfect and it is fun to watch the magicians at work (also know as the guys who move the cars around in the small...

This is a hotel in Venice where you can reach with your car and just near the hotel you can put your car in a park (with extra charge of course, but still a good facility). But on the other hand, as reached by car, you are a bit out of the center of Venice. So more walking is needed...

Loved this place and would return. We stayed in the annex and were very pleased with rooms. Clean, and all needs catered for. We had 2 rooms ( 3 in annex), and even though much is small in Venice, room was more than adequate. Looked very deceiving g from outside, but as I said... It was a nice suprize inside. Dear Guest, we are quite sure you cannot blame our hotel that your travel agent booked another hotel for you, probably it was Hotel Doge; it is a common mistake, as the name is very similar. That hotel is about 10-15 minutes far from the ours and you can get there by waterbus (ticket = 7 euros) or watertaxi (about...

We read up on where best to stay before heading off on our cruise and chose this. We were so pleased we did as this is perfect as a stop over en-route to your cruise. It is located right next to the people mover - this nifty monorail type thing that takes you one stop to the cruise terminal for...

The hotel is great for pre-cruise travel. We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers. We had two rooms in the annex building, which had an elevator, and we really liked it. The rooms are small, but seem bigger due to the vaulted skylighted ceilings. The bathrooms are very modern and have skylights as well. There was a breakfast...

This hotel is all about location. It is in the same square as the bus station for airport access and next to the people mover for port access. We were immediately upgraded upon arrival and we were extremely well looked after by the staff. All in all a wonderful start to our holiday.

My wife and I enjoyed our two night stay at the Ca Doge prior to boarding our cruise ship. We had a large bedroom in the main hotel with a nice bathroom but a minuscule shower - be careful when using it! But lack of an elevator is a bit of a problem indeed. We flew overnight from Canada and...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
