We had the pleasure of 3 nights at Ca' dei Dogi. The service was perfect. We were running in the Venice 10km and were up way too early for breakfast and the girl on reception (whose name is completely escaping me, sorry) went out of her way to make sure we had something to eat for when we got back...

I stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights with my husband. The location is perfect even though it is a bit hidden, but it is really close to the Piazza San Marcos. When we arrived, we were immediately upgraded to the Superior Double Room which is big and beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay!

Highly recommend this hotel. Sussana provided excellent serivce. We did the glass factory tour -- not that great -- but the island is worth seeing. Buy a day pass for the water taxis and cruise the grand canal at night after doing Mirano. Truly perfect location. Breakfast was pretty solid. Bathroom was very nice. Zero complaints. Be aware that there...

What a wonderful few days stay we had in Ca' dei Dogi. I would 100% recommend this hotel for a Venice trip. We stayed in the Sole Apartment and had a view of the city from the terrace. Apartment was decorated to the highest standard. Breakfast in the charming restaurant is included and it was delicious! Staff were so friendly....

Our recent stay in the Moon Apartment could not have been better. The location was perfect - within a few steps of St Mark's but safe and quiet. The apartment was spotless, comfortable and modern. There was individual air conditioning in each room and tv with a couple of English channels. Breakfast was included in the hotel dining room each...

Beautifully decorated, quiet room with patio overlooking the Doge Palace and prison. Convenient location and quiet even though close to the center of Venice. Excellent breakfast in their restaurant, and very helpful front desk.

We love this small boutique hotel, just behind the Bridge of Sighs! The staff is friendly and helpful and the freshly made omelette is a nice change from the typical pastry breakfast. Even though it is just steps from S Marco Square, it is tucked into a quiet alley and out of the hustle and bustle. We will return.

Stairs to rooms, no lift, but porter available. Aliluguna bus stop 5 minute walk away direct from airport. Attached restaurant, same name and owner, reasonable and popular. Access through tiny alleyway next to prison, then follow sign! Told area locally floods during high tides with hunters full moon, only annually, so watch when you book.

This is a fabulous apartment that is so close to all the hustle and bustle of St. Marks Square but so peaceful as soon as you open the door! It's simply decorated but very contemporary. The bedding was really nice as were the bathroom and shower. It's very close to the ferries and you just walk across the alley to...

Our 8-night Stay Exceeded Our Very High Expectations Rushing to grab airline seats, it took us about 30 minutes of reading reviews to choose this affordable, perfectly located accommodation 6 months in advance of our Oct 2016 trip. Trip completed, I don't think we could have chosen better had we researched for months. LOCATION: I counted the steps from the...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
