Attractive small hotel next to a garden and off a street with little foot traffic. Walking distance to the sights and the Piazzale Roma (traffic interchange), or the Vaporettto stop is only a short walk. Rooms are clean, light and airy, larger than some major cities and the breakfast is continental. Only negative are the stairs and we were on...

We were in Venice for two nights between Barcelona and Rome. We stayed there based on the reviews on tripadvisor and they were spot on. It's a prime location but also nicely tucked away. A tiny place (only a few rooms) but friendly service, clean rooms with nice bathooms. The breakfast was great and we would certainly stay again. Unfortunately...

We booked a double room and ended up with the top floor apartment with a gorgeous roof terrace all to ourselves. Room was very clean, service was excellent and breakfast was great. As it was warm weather, we were able to sit on the terrace for breakfast. The location was perfect (central but down a very quiet street) and I...

A small and idyllic hotel with a good location. The neighbourhood is not infested with tourists, but one of the main walking routes between the railway/bus station and Rialto Bridge is going just next to the hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast buffet was a bit limited, but all the most important components were included and you...

Ca' San Rocco was a little hard to find, even with the map kindly supplied by the owners - however, once there the greeting was friendly and the owner sisters provided all the information I needed during my stay. Breakfast on the balcony was a great start to the day and I had a pleasant garden outlook from my room....

Venice is a great place and accommodations are expensive but The Ca' San Rocco cannot be beat. I paid 100 Euros per night and had an immaculate room that was simple and charming with a view of a picturesque garden, a nice continental breakfast on the terrace each morning, very friendly and helpful service and a very short walk from...

We chose this hotel mainly based on reviews here on Tripadvisor. Nothing is cheap in Venice but at least here you have a reasonable price and a very good quality, if simple, hotel. The Ca San Rocco is very small (6 rooms?) but recently renovated, very clean with a spacious room and a big bathroom, friendly and helpful staff (mainly...

This small B&B was perfectly placed outside the hustle of bustle of Venice's centre, whilst being an easy and quick walk. It was very clean, reception very helpful and friendly and a reasonable price compared to other places in Venice. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh, the bed comfy, bathroom great etc. Internet was available at a reasonable cost. Our bedroom...

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
