HI Not long returned from a lovely three night stay with Rosa and Paulo. The property is in a very good location just off the main thoroughfare between the Rialto and the Railway station , it is a family home on the third floor of the Palazzo so you must be capable of climbing the stairs but once there it...

Rosa and Paulo do everything they can to make this place a lovely relaxing place to stay. It's a little off the beaten path which is a wonderful thing actually. You get a large room and bath with an excellent breakfast. Rosa makes great coffee and homemade yogurt. You have to be able to hike up stairs but it is...

We loved staying with Rosa and Paolo in their beautiful home. Our room was very spacious and comfortable and had a large bathroom and dressing room. Rosa served us breakfast each morning, which included items she baked and her homemade yogurt. Staying here helped to make our stay in Venice even more wonderful.

I am here! I arrived a few days ago, to attend a university reunion on a lower floor. As others have said Rosa and Paulo are such friendly wonderful hosts. My ensuite room has roof top views, even a tower of San Marco can be seen from a window, with wonderful fabrics, wooden shutters, wooden ceiling...so very special. Quiet area,...

What a lovely, graceful and unique place to stay. Rosa and Paulo were such gracious and welcoming hosts. I would go back in a heartbeat. If I was being really picky, no air conditioning makes the room stuffy, though they do provide fans. But a taste of true Venice, lovely!

The hosts could not be more welcoming to their gorgeous home. There are only 3 or 4 rooms and you truly feel like guests. The homemade yoghurt was tasty and the breakfast was nice. It is mildly difficult to find (luckily someone on here had posted a photo!) and there are lots of steps to access.

If I were able to give 6 stars, I would- and it actually also suites the name: you feel at home in a palace in the middle of Venice. This is the home of a lovely couple, they have a large apartment in the top floor with three rooms they rent out. The common room contains a lot of history...

Rosa and Paulo are warm and hospitable hosts. A wonderful chance to stay in their beautiful home on the top floor of this historical building should not be missed. Art and culture surround you both inside and out. Central to all of the usual sights of Venice yet secluded enough to be free from the crowds and noise. Brash it...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
