We had a very good stay at Hotel Boccassini. Very polite staff, nice garden and reasonable breakfast, nice rooms, We felt a bit uncomfortable because of the street noise, people were chatting and walking even after midnight, we could not close the windows as it was hot and no air-condition . maybe if you get the garden-front rooms you will...

A great little hotel. Luca, the owner, was extremely helpful and pleasant. The location is great as it is near enough to the centre of Venice: to the left about 3kms is St Marks Square and to the right is the railway/bus station - about 4kms. So it is a bit of walking but there is lots to see and...

Hotel Casa Boccassini is an amazing little place, with a nice and quiet garden and a very soft cat named Simba. It's near everything, but still out of the worst touristic area. The staff was so lovely and helpful, and it's very ceap compared with other hotels in the area. I'd recomend the hotel to all my friends and family,...

am currently sitting in the tiny yard of Boccassini being tortured by mosquitos just trying to prevent those who might have suffered same like me. I chose the hotel because of the good reviews about its neat, cozy and repeatedly the great location. I live in a 2-floor double room, which is rather tiny. The sanity is okay but not...

Dear guest , I have seen that you had 3 problems at Casa Boccassini and we apologize for this. 1) Mosquitos is a problem everywhere in Venice, because is in the middle of lagoon and it is normal to have mosquitos. 2) the wifi is free and is available at reception or garden ( common area, as wrote on every...

I have my favorite travel advisors that I consult and when planning to travel to Venice from Varenna, Italy I consulted again. But every hotel reccommended was booked. Then we found a write up for Casa Bocassini located very close to our vaporetto stop Fondamente Nova. This was our first (but certainly not our last) trip to Venice and this...

This being my 6th visit to Venice I really wanted to stay on another part of the island. Finding this hotel was perfect & the price even better! The hotel host Luca was very helpful, the staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and the location was great. We felt like we were emerged in the local Italian culture and...

My girlfriend and I stayed at this lovely Hotel for 2 night and was really good! Very quiet around there, nice room and good localization. Besides, It's just 5 min walk from the vaporetto (Fondamente Nove Station). There are a few restaurant near to there and it's just 20 min by walk from Piazza San Marco

We have stayed here several times in the past few years and have always had a great stay. The location is really good. You are close to everything but out of the massive crowds of people. Luca, the owner, is very helpfull and speaks perfect English. It is peaceful, clean, quiet and true value for money. We are looking forward...

Casa Boccassini qualifies as the worst hotel experience ever. We arrived at the hotel very tired and with official Expedia confirmation of the booking. We were greeted by unpleasant receptionist who started shouting at us that our booking was cancelled and they had no room for us. The receptionist was agressive and used abusive language (calling me a liar was...

Dear Mr/Miss NGRCEVA, You made a reservation with Expedia-Venere ( is the same company ) PREPAID NOT REFUNDABLE and that mean that you have to pay the room before your arrival, so we tried to charge the amount of your stay on your credit card, but the message from the credit card machine was " TRANSACTION DENIED " so we...

This small hotel with its own secret garden, lies perfectly situated in one Venice's quieter areas, very close to the Fondamenta Nove (seaside where many of the larger boats leave from, among others the boat to the airport) and not more than a short stroll away from the Rialto bridge and the more busy parts of the city. The hotel...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

“Our room was directly above reception and because of that we seemed to get wifi sometimes, although patchy. They do tell you in order to get wifi you will have to be in reception or in the courtyard, but I think because of proximity, we sometimes could connect for a few minutes in our room.”
