What a great little hotel away from the hustle and bustle of St. marks Square but only a 10 beautiful walk to the Rialto and Gran Canal. I have to say it is so nice to stay in a hotel that isn't trying to nickel and dime you from the moment you walk in. They even figured out it was...

Like others, booked this hotel back in September based on the strength of Trip Advisor reviews. The comments are spot on and the hotel exceeded expectations. The hosts, Sandor and Walter were quite accommodating, not only upon arrival, but in advance. Promptly responding to emails with suggestions and arrangements. It was our first time in Venice and we don't speak...

We booked this hotel eight months ago for this April on the strength on Trip Advisor recommendations and location. We were not disappointed with anything. Our little suite which was in the separate annex , consisted of a large room with a king size bed and a smaller adjoining room with a single divan for our daughter. It was quite...

Venice is a City of Palaces, but for great value and friendly service you will find it difficult to beat the Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo. The rooms are a lovely balance of quality modern bathrooms and antique bedrooms. The situation is great because you are actually surrounded by Venetians and not mobbed by tourists, although Piazza San Marco is only...

As per usual we have a splash out on our vacation & decided to stay here on our last night. The place was beautiful with the most amazing views/features every which way you turned. Our room was beautiful & comfortable with antique pieces on show. Just sitting and relaxing in the courtyard among the statues was removed from reality. We...

Wow. What a satisfyingly great place. My husband and I was touring Europe for our 10Th wedding anniversary. We flew into Munich, stayed in Salzburg, also Vienna, and Venice, then back up to Munich. Our actual anniversary was at the Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo. It was very easy to find, even for our first trip to Venice. Venice is actually...

We recently had a 3 week vacation to Europe, including a 4-night stay in Venice. In terms of value for money, this hotel is the best we experienced. We arrived early and were offered a breakfast while they made up our room. The service from the 2 owners was great - very friendly and helpful (they are native Venicians). The...

We stayed for two nights at this lovely small hotel. The staff went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The hotel was convenient for the train and bus station, and within walking distance of the main sights. Breakfast in the hotel courtyard was very nice. I would definitely recommend this place to others and...

This hotel may not be a well-kept secret anymore thanks to Trip Advisor, but it definitely lives up to its reputation. It's easy to find if you use the instructions on their website (we walked from the station but you can have a water taxi drop you only a few metres from the front door, should you desire.) The rooms...

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
