We arrived by train at st lucia, venice. From there, take a water bus line 2 to accademia station which cost €7.50. Once you arrived accademia station, cross the bridge on your left, then cross another small bridge on your left. Walk til the end and you can see a door with the hotel sign. You will be surprised by...

We arrived in Venice on October 14, 2016. This was our first time ever and it was pouring rain and we had large luggage to contend with. We should have gotten off the water bus at the Accademia stop but there were no announcements made and the windows were steamy and raining and they didn't stop for more than a...

Checked into Foresteria Levi with my mom and dad for three nights in early October this year. Small hotel but strategically located - the Accademia vaporetto stop is just across the bridge - 3 minutes away and the hotel has a private docking place for water taxi as well. 24 hour reception service and a locked front door before the...

Very well positioned, right on the grand canal although our room was in an annex a couple doors away so no views of canal just a small courtyard. Our room and adjoining e suite was very modern and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was self service continental style, a hot drink machine, fresh orange juice, croissants jams etc which was all set...

We stayed here on a quick 4 day trip to Venice and it was wonderful. It was one of the cheaper priced hotels in the area, during school holidays and so we weren't really expecting too much. It very quickly surpassed all expectations. The rooms are kind of set up like mini apartment blocks and each set of 4 rooms...

This hotel is located in a convenient part of town near the Accademia Bridge over the Grand Canal. I had a single bed room and the room was very small but fine. The bathroom was not in great condition with mold on the ceiling, a loose toilet seat and a shower you could barely turn around in. The shower was...

Lovely hotel perfectly situated opposite one of the local water bus stops, staff were pleasant and accomadating. The rooms were of a high standard with large bathrooms. Very inexpensive for the popular tourist location.

Love the location near the Academia bridge which is just a minute's walk. It has all the amenities of a modern hotel. There is a lift, hallelujah, although small, so you don't have to lug heavy luggage up the stairs. The room has air-conditioning, a fridge, large bathroom and hair dryer. They gave us 2 a large room with a...

We really enjoyed or stay in Venice - a beautiful city to explore. The hotel was average - room was a good size and air conditioning was great, which is always a must when you're in the sun all day! The bed wasn't the most comfortable but all in all it was clean and had good storage, although there wasn't...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
