Not what you expect from a place so near to Canale Grande, you have the impression that they could do better, the room, the service, the breakfast. Maybe it's because they are just letting rooms they have at their disposal, but Venice is more than just a place to stay.

The promo pictures are a bit misleading - the budget hotel is attached to the white marble palazzo you see on the pictures, but not directly on the Grand Canal - you will not get a room with a 'view'. That said, you can walk out to the private dock of the building complex to take some amazing photos. Rooms...

Take the Academia ferry to get here. Easy if you have light luggage. If you have heavy luggage or mobility issues then it is a bit of a trek as you need to cross a bridge with lots of wooden steps. We caught a private taxi back at a cost of 70 euro as the steps were too much with...

felt very safe, convenient to the waterway; you could actually reach it two different ways, one on the "outside" of the islands - and only have to walk a short distance - save the longer trip up the Grand Canal, once you figure out the system!! The staff was very nice, accomodated our error in getting the bed made as...

We cancelled the hotel on the 10th Day before our stay, and was shortly after charged for our 2 night stay in full. I tried to call the hotel and was told to email in and the manager would have to decide if I could un-cancel and stay anyways (seeing that I have paid already now), after a day of...

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. Room was very clean and modern, freshly renovated. Spacious bathroom. Location is perfect: by Academia bridge, 10 min to San Marco or Rialto. Breakfast good as well: a choice of drinks, some sweat buns, jam, cheese and ham. Enough for a nice start of the day.

Note: If you do decide to say here if you don't want to pay the high price of a water taxi you can take a water bus. If you take the water bus you can take it to the Saint Angelo stop but you will still have a 10 minute walk and you'll need to cross a few bridges though...

Nice furniture, right location and Cleaning areas service. Personal attention to low and breakfast below the standard. Recomended for a fast trip profile with a Mnpbimfprice below 95€/at night not 115€. The rooms are divided in differentl buildings and the photos web site aren,t real.

This was, effectively, our first time in Venice, and my main concern in booking a hotel was location, so I'll focus my review on that. We stayed here the first weekend of February, in the midst of low-season. I was looking for a place that was close to the center (aka San Marco) and whatever attractions were there, but also...

I stayed there for one night only and I can say that location is good but all the rest is not worth the money. First I tried to pay on arrival with a card but they already charged my guarantee card on the reservation day with the full amount, 4 days before, the breakfast is very poor, the cleaning is...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
