Great place to stay in Venice, the owner and his wife are very welcoming and friendly, the owner helped me when I first arrived in Venice as I got totally lost trying to find the place!! The breakfast were very continental and decent, overall the rooms were very clean and tidy. Would definitely stay there again.

Perfect hotel for our short stay in Venice. Great location - easy to get to from the airport Allilaguna service. Just a short stroll to most of the crucial sights of Venice. Located in a very quiet Calle. We arrived late and Fausto arranged to buzz us in (but do let him know in advance if you're arriving out of...

The hotel is tucked away in a small alley, but directions from staff was easy to follow. I used GPS and still found it, albeit it's a long walk from the train station with many twists and turns. This location is excellent in term of quietness, away from the crazy crowd, but still easily accessible from the vaperetto. There is...

The room was very comfortable, very clean and spacious. The location of the hotel is excellent since it's nearby a Vaporetto stop and walking distance to tourist attractions. The owner is very helpful, he assisted us prior to arrival with proper indications on how to find the hotel and provided a map upon arrival.

Easy to get to, clean rooms. the bed in the first room squeaked terribly but we were moved quickly to another room the next morning. really enjoyed our stay there and the chats we had with Fausto ( we hope your dad is feeling better ). Breakfast wasn't great but good enough to get us ready for the day (...

Stayed here for 2 nights in mid October, the location is good, less than 7 mins walk to the vaporetto stop. So it was easy to get to many places. The walk from the vaporetto stop to the B&B was easy with our big luggage. You will need to walk up a flight of stairs as the B&B is on...

A small and friendly hotel on the main Island in Venice. Easy to get to from Vaporetto stop Ospedale and from all the main attractions (if you don't get lost, as you always do in Venice :-) ). The hotel is located in a narrow lane close to a small campo (square) in the Castello district. No canal view but...

This was a return visit to Alloggi Barbaria. Firstly the location is perfect. Two minute walk from Ospidali Water Bus stop and twelve minutes from St Mark's Square. The room was clean and had all we needed, including a fridge stocked with very cheap drink. Breakfast was nice and filling. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful and even gave us...

This is billed as a hotel but it is more like a bed and breakfast without the owners being there…..that's not meant to sound like a bad thing! It is conveniently located about a 2 min walk from the Ospedale (hospital) water taxi stop, and it's not not more than a 20 min (if you don't get lost, but you...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
