For the price you pay for such a central location it is difficult to complain. If you want a more luxurious stay then this is not the place for you. Pros: Excellent central location Cost Comfort of the room. Had a/c and heating Friendly hotel staff Old 'Venetian' style decor Cons: Thinnest towels I've ever seen in my life. Imagine...

I originally posted this review elsewhere but may be it will help somebody, so here it is. Location is convenient for those who want to be close to Piazza Le Roma bus terminal (this is where airport shuttle arrives) and train station. Abot 10 min walk. It is about 15 min walk from Piazza San Marco. One minute walk from...

We are two weeks traveling in Italy and it is the only hotel that we stayed at and has a special family vibe all the people that work here are smily and helpful. It is close to the center walking distance. Good breakfast in a nice verandah everything is styled in a authentic vintage look. Very good price compared to...

This hotel is not what it says on the description. The young man who runs the hotel is extremely rude and dismissive. The older gentleman is actually really nice but the young man is extremely rude to him too. The room was tiny and very old. It was right on the street so the sound was a real problem. We...

I did enjoy. There are a few things to improve! The towels where quite fin and I had to ask if it was really towels or not, plus, The wifi failed many times through our stay (I think was because they where changing the company that provided the wifi). A really small bathroom, but it was okay. Nice breakfast. Nice...

I don't mean Art Deco. It is old. Old smell, old furniture and odd location! We had an ultercation with the payment. Our itinerary states that we paid in full but yet the owner of the hotel insists it was only a deposit. None the less, the son's owner started speaking to us like a typical Italian, hand gestures and...

We have just returned from here and can say that although we knew we were staying in an external building it was only a 5-6 minute walk from the main hotel. The room was on the top floor and although it was a job climbing the stairs, it was very quiet. The room was clean, the wifi worked and the...

I've booked with 2 months before travelling there, which means i would have had the blocked money all this...

The hotel is well-situated and our room was very quiet (you could hear the blackbirds at dawn!) Otherwise it is really a place for sleeping, with a very basic but comfortable room and bathroom with wifi, hair dryer, shower, bidet etc. Location is good as it's about a ten minute walk from the train station, and the surrounding neighbourhood is...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
