We picked this place due to it being one of the cheapest on a compare site for September, paying around £100 a night.
We were not disappointed at all, our room was on the small side, but clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was just...More
A ten minute walk from a vaporetta stop across a couple canals and down a short alley bring you to this pleasant B&B. A little worn, no public place other than a very small lobby, but clean and a good value. Stairs take you to...More
My girlfriend and I stayed here 2 weeks ago for 2 nights, it was very cheap £150 all in for 2 nights B&B. Along a very quiet, beautiful canal about 5 minutes walk from Academia water bus stop and bridge. Also close to the waterfront...More
After a night train from Paris to Venice (bad experience), what a wonderful welcome and early check-in we received upon arriving at Ca' San Trovaso. This small B&B is on a quiet side canal in the Dorsoduro area of Venice, about 15 minutes walking from...More
I have actually stay at this hotel three times over the years. That tells you something. Each time it was just perfect for me. Great location close to vaporetta stop and L' Academia. Very good value for money.
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob
in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.

You have to take the Allilaguna service from the airport to get to the central part of Venice. You will then need to change to one of the vaporetto routes that will get you to the Zattere stop. From there it is about a ten minute walk to the hotel. Alessandra, the hotel manager will send you a map. You will have to cross a couple of hump backed bridges to get there (you have to do that regardless of which hotel you choose). The other alternative is to take a water taxi direct from the airport to the hotel, or near the hotel. That is very expensive.
