Intimate, beautifully appointed and immaculately kept by charming proprietor Alessandra, the Ca' San Trovaso is the perfect base from which to explore Venice. Although it overlooks a quiet canal, it's only minutes away from the lively bars and restaurants of Dorsoduro, and an easy walk...More
This charming 6 room hotel was exactly what we wanted: a quiet hotel in a residential neighborhood (along a small canal), within a short walk of great little shops, bars, ristorantes and some of the best sights in Venice. A short walk to the Accademia...More
My husband and I stayed 3 nights here and it exceeded our expectations.
It's location is in the lovely residential quiet charming area of Dorsoduro. It is on a quiet canal less than 10 minutes from both the Accademia and Zattere water stops.
Very nice and personal B&B with only 6 rooms, whereof 1 family room that we had. Located in a calmer part of Venice with plenty of good restaurants nearby.
Nice and clean rooms with good beds.
Good breakfast served in the room.

This is our 3rd or 4th stay over a number of years and I wouldn't stay any where else in Venice. The location is ideal, near Vaparatto stop, Accademia Bridge in a quiet neighborhood. Excellent continental breakfast delivered to your attractive room each morning. Alessandra...More
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob
in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.

You have to take the Allilaguna service from the airport to get to the central part of Venice. You will then need to change to one of the vaporetto routes that will get you to the Zattere stop. From there it is about a ten minute walk to the hotel. Alessandra, the hotel manager will send you a map. You will have to cross a couple of hump backed bridges to get there (you have to do that regardless of which hotel you choose). The other alternative is to take a water taxi direct from the airport to the hotel, or near the hotel. That is very expensive.
