The location close to the station meant I could easily and quickly get my luggage from the station to the hotel on arrival and to the airport by boat when I left. The staff were friendly and helpful (in spite of my total lack of Italian). They took my bags upstairs to my room which was small but clean, comfortable...

Though the hotel is situated near a touristy area, by taking a turn down a side street you're immediately in old Venice. Comfortable, warm and friendly staff, and the included breakfast make this stay a great option for those traveling to Venice.

I would highly recommend this hotel. It was very clean, and comfortable. It was located 5-10 minutes walking distance from San Lucia train station. Breakfast was ok, with all the essentials to start you off, but if you're looking for ham and eggs, you won't find it here. We learned that the Italian folks prefer to dunk sweet bisquits into...

The installations in my bedroom was so good, the only anoying thing was the noise out of the street. But in Venezia this is normal. The train station is so close, you can walk for a few minutes and arrive there without a problem.

Great Hotel close to terminal station. We left early in the morning using a train, and just left the hotel 15 minutes before the train departure. Really helpful staff, helped us with luggage and information of the area.. Bathroom and room was clean.

We stayed only one night at Hotel Caprera but we were very impressed with its friendly helpful staff, the cleanliness of the room and it is only a 10 minute walk (with bags) from the train station. Very handy walk to the main attractions, very easy walk of a couple of minutes to the boats and ferries and gondolas to...

Hotel Caprera is a small and cosy hotel located very central in Venice. From the hotel you can easy get to the sights and also get a little away from all the turist. The hotel is close the the very charming area The ghetto, were there are many local restaurants and no turists.

Very good stay -- location was a little tricky, as it's off the main street, but it is close to the train station, clean, and comfortable. The only minor issue as the A/C. It was VERY hot and the A/C had a hard time keeping up. In our kids' room, it apparently cycled off, so was very hot for them...

This hotel was fabulous! We stayed for two nights and from the minute we walked in the door we felt at home. It's close to the train station so a good location and an easy walk into the main square. The family who own it are friendly and help you out with any request. It was an affordable choice for...

We only ever look for a cheap, clean hotel in a good spot and we got it here. It was nice and close to everything, we had a cute little balcony and the room was nice and clean. The only issue was it was a very small room, but really we are in the centre of Venice and wouldn't expect...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
