Our room was spacious and beautifully appointed with the modern fixtures fitting well with the beautiful old building's character and mood. The public spaces were lovely - can't say enough about the glass chandeliers! But best of all were the staff who gave us every consideration and made us feel as welcome as old friends.

Dear k8coleman, Thank you for this great review. You make me proud of my staff! You say 'true' palace: absolutely appropriate! The former owners of the Palace asked us to restore it mantaining and bringing to life again all the original decorations, inserts, bas-reliefs, frescoes: they still live in a back side and they can see our 'piano nobile' from...

Spacious, breathtaking views. Room 21 had 2 balconies..The staff couldn't be more accomodating. We got lost trying to find the hotel from the Train Station...The hotel immediately had our bags brought up to the room and had 2 Bellini's waiting for us....How gracious. The breakfast was wonderful. Helped us with air travel and boat trips. Would only recommend this hotel...

I stayed in a triple room with friends for 2 nights in October and was very pleased with this hotel. The hotel is located right on a nice plaza, facing Santa Maria Formosa and they serve you a welcome glass of wine up on their little terrace overlooking the square. Our room was nicely updated, with a large bed (actually...

A beautiful hotel seeped in history. Staff were exceptional particularly Giuliani. Rooms very spacious and we opted for room with balcony. All the rooms are unique with fabulous features. Simple breakfast but just perfect. Location is central for getting around Venice.

We greatly enjoyed our stay. The room we had was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the wifi was excellent. We were given great advice about restaurants and stores by the young woman at the reception desk. Only two small complaints: small bars of soap and the extra blanket was old and scruffy. Great shower! Very convenient to St Marks...

The hotel was very well situated for getting to the major sites of Venice. The room and bathroom were large and comfortable. The staff were especially accommodating in helping us arrange various visits and travels. The one aspect that could be improved was the safe did not function, but we were given the special key so that we were able...

Our family of 4, with two teenagers stayed here for 3 nights. We were all in one very spacious room with 1 bathroom. It was clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful, especially the main lady on reception desk who translated for other staff who didn't speak english well. They accommodated my need for soy milk and breakfast was sufficient, in...

Wonderful, historic building tastefully modernised so that it retains all its character. Charming, helpful staff, especially Giulia on reception. We felt like royalty in our deluxe room with arched windows overlooking the square.

I was severely disappointed with my stay at the Palazzo Vitturi Hotel. Not with the building itself, but with the staff and their distinct lack of customer service. Firstly, let me start off by saying that I had high hopes for this hotel. I arranged a trip to Venice as a surprise gift for my girlfriends 30th birthday - this...

Dear Mr. Karl, I would like to apologize for all the 'missing pieces' regarding your stay. After a careful check, I have honestly no written evidence about the request of a particular date and time about the bottle delivery, so I assume this request has been made by phone. Normally we treat this type of request so accurately since we...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
