I booked La Ca'Dogeressa to spend just one night with my wife and our two children in April. The booking through Venere.com was no trouble. This small boutique hotel is very conveniently located near the railway station. Don't be fooled by the short distance it seems to be on the map, you will still have a good ten minute walk...

My friend & I stayed at this lovely hotel for 4 nights in early May which is situated on a smaller canal . The hotel is only small but the rooms are larger than the average european hotel room, the decor was very venitian & pleasing to the eye ,the room & bathroom were exceptionally clean with small toiletries provided.The...

My wife and I just returned from a trip to Italy. We stayed in this hotel for two nights. We booked this hotel for the good reviews in TripAvisor and in general it was what we expected. The hotel is located in a nice and quiet district away from the expensive and crowded areas, just a few minutes walk from...

Our stay was lovely. Our room was large and comfortable, with a large bathroon that included lovely products. Everything about this property met or exceedded our expectations. We would highly recomend this hotel and I am sure we will stay there again ourselves. The proprietor, Paolo, was friendly , helpful and kind., and the location can't be beat.

Ca' Dogaressa was probably the nicest place we stayed in Italy on our honeymoon. We stayed in the junior suite, which is beautifully decorated and has a nice canal view. The service was impeccable! We arrived from the airport early in the morning on a rainy day. When we came in, the manager offered us free breakfast and coffee, even...

I went stayed here in 2006 and loved it so much my Mom stayed here a few months ago. The building is absolutely gorgeous! Bedrooms are large with air conditioning units (very important during the hot summer months!) bathrooms are large and beautiful. Traiditional Venetian decor! Breakfast on the canal is the highlight of this hotel. Visit the roof top...

We booked our stay six months in advance directly with the hotel. With the declining dollar, it would have been better if we could have pre-paid! We arrived by rail and walked to the hotel with luggage in tow. It was only about a 10 minute walk from the train station. The hotel is located in a quiet residential section...

As my caption states, I want to keep this hotel a secret so that I will be able to get a room in future, but that would be unfair to the lovely people at Ca' Dogaressa. My family and I spent a thoroughy relaxing week in this gem of a hotel located in the peaceful Cannareggio district. Paolo and Daniele...

I have just returned today from a week long trip to Venice with my mother and my two sisters. We stayed in the junior suite at Ca' Dogaressa which accommodated four people, the room was very spacious, clean and comfortable and the decor was of typical Venetian style. As we had a room with a canal view every morning as...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
