We stayed in 3 hotels in Italy and this place was our favorite. We arrived and the receptionist was extremely kind and helpful. She gave us a map and spent a good 20 or so minutes talking to us about where to go and what to avoid. She helped us figure out a way to get to the airport (which... More

My DH and I stayed at Hotel Tiziano for 3 nights two weeks ago. We walked to the hotel from airport shuttle bus station at Piazza Roma. It took us about 30 minutes because it wasn't easy to find the hotel even with the direction we got from the hotel. In Italy, street names are on the wall of the... More

Very friendly hotel, clean full of Venetian charm. We upgraded to room 303 - a lovely, airy room cleaned daily. The staff were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The only downside is that the hotel is a little difficult to find on arrival but once we found our bearings liked the fact that the hotel location was in a quiet area.

The hotel has a great location in Dorsoduro. You can do everything under a walking distance (including San Polo / San Marco), and this becomes a great advantage to explore the mild nightlife Venice has to offer at the Santa Margherita square (just be sure to bring a map and a flashlight to find your way back, because after all... A delightful jewel in a quiet neighborhood with exceptional staff. Restored facility highlights historical origin while providing modern convenience features. The staff are exceptional - particularly Diego & Claudia. Diego rescued us from poor travel agent transport plans - private door-2-door transfer for @ same cost of group travel with drop-off @ .25 miles from hotel. Claudia made excellent dining... More

This hotel is a small, 14 unit property in a quiet district of Venice. Our room on the ground floor was comfortable and met most of our needs. It was a long walk from the main shopping and sight-seeing area. Small restaurants were close by. The staff was helpful with directions, and attentive to our needs. This is a basic... More

Everyone has their own views and opinions but we thought the Tiziano was a great hotel for the money. It was decorated in the lovely Venetian style. It was 15 mins walk from the bus station in a quiet location next to a small canal. All the staff were great but Diego and Claudia on reception were so knowledgeable polite... More

A very nice hotel in a quieter district of Venice. About 30 minites walk (if you know where you're going) to St. Mark's Basilica and Rialto Bridge. An easy 10 minute walk to Train Station. I was perfectly pleased with hotel location (and would stay here again) ... my travel partners, not so much, mainly because of the walking; but... More

Disappointed when we've arrived. The receptionist just handed out the keys of the room without giving any explantion. The first receptionist gave a very lazy impression. The receptionist of the next day was much better. He was very kind and gave us a lot of tips about the city. The room was in a Venetian style which we appreciated, but... More

We arrived in Venice after a week in Florence and were greeted by Diego who checked us in efficiently, helped with our bags and showed us to our rooms. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is quaint and typically decorated in Venetian style. The location is ideal if you are looking to stay a short distance from the main... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
