We really liked the location of this hotel and that was about it. When we checked in the man at the front desk was very rude and grumpy. He didn't even welcome us to the hotel or anything. He pretty much ruined a lot for us. The staff was not very helpful. The rooms and the bathroom were a nice...

We stayed in one of the quads. The room was nothing fancy, but it was clean, comfortable and the bathroom was really nice. The hotel has a cute little rooftop you can sit on to look at the stars at night. Great location. So-so breakfast.

With its own landing stage onto a beautiful and quiet canal location, this is a fabulously situated hotel for a B&B stay. Look for the street sign 'Ramo Barbaro' if walking as it is easy to be misled by the hotel sign and wander about (guide information fails to tell you this important information). Almost next door, on the Salizzada...

This was a pretty nice hotel. Location is good, staff is helpful, and rooms are okay (typical european). It is clean and up tp date and also on a side canal. The funny part is that the A/C wont work is the window is open-everything is computerized and they can tell if lights are on or a window is open...

I loved the hotel, simple and comfortable. Very good location. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room is large and bright. Very good for the price.

Good location. Nice area of city and close to everything but yet quiet and relaxed. Hotel itself is only OK. Hotel and room look way better on web site than in reality.

We stayed for 3 nights in a junior suite. The bed was large and comfortable, the room was well equipped and the canal views were beautiful. Breakfast was very good, although the queue for the coffee machine caused a bit of congestion. Free wifi and a free computer were a bonus, the staff were helpful and pleasant and the situation...

What can I say expect I liked it well enough to go back again this summer. I will also try out 3 new hotels in Venice because I'm using points and I like to experience different areas. My husband and I spent 6 nights at Ca' d'Oro last summer. We requested, and paid extra for a canal view room. Very...

1st Trip to Venice, having searched many hotel listings, this Hotel seemed to have what we required, location, quality and reasonable price. Good feed back on Web sites. What can we say, it’s a gem, tucked away in a nice quite back street, yet only 5min walk to Rialto Bridge, and 10-15min walk to St Mark’s square. Loads of local...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
