We booked here for our honeymoon, and can certainly say that the hotel and the whole visit was out of this world.. We had heard so many different opinions, mainly negative, but our findings were so contrary to what we had heard.. We love the city, we love the hotel, and we can't wait to come back.. Thank You, So...

We stayed at the Ca D'oro with some friends for two nights. The hotel is a little recessed but we found it... Do not pack heavy, as you will have to drag your case from the car to the boat (Vaporetto), then to the pedestrian only street. The hotel was clean, and all we needed. Venice is not cheap, but...

We stayed here this August (2012) The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Our 2nd floor room was very clean and the air conditioning was a god-send in the heat of August. We took our daughter and were surprised to find the room was quite large even with an extra bed in there. The bathroom was also large and...

The hotel was lovely, spotlessly clean and with a nice firm mattress. We had a room (which was quite large and airy) on the courtyard side and although we were on the first floor we didn't hear a thing all night long. I also liked that the room had hardwood floors, seems cleaner than carpeting. The desk staff was extremely...

We liked the easy to find location of the hotel not far from all the activity with a friendly welcoming atmosphere just as the brochure pictured. The room 104 was clean and well equipped with a wonderful view of a side canal and the air conditioning was very quiet. We both had an undisturbed 3 nights sleep. The breakfast buffet...

We prebooked private taxi from airport to P.le Roma with Shuttle Direct which cost 64 euros return. Then from there we got a water bus to C'a Doro. After getting off the water bus (vaparetto) you walk down the alleyway and then turn right - when you come to opening at the bottom then turn left and the hotel is...

A small but delightful hotel. water taxi stop nearby make sit easy to get too and from the station and it is only 10 minutes walk from the Rialto and St Marks. Lovely rooms, nicely furnished and clean with decent air con. Modern bathrooms. The staff were friendly and the hotel has a sweet little roof terrace to just sit...

I made a last minute booking for a weekend visit and wanted somewhere reasonably cheap and in a central location. This small hotel fitted both requirements. I was surprised to be able to get a reasonable single occupancy room rate and found it was because they do have at least one rather small single room! Not much room even for...

In short, as soon as we walked into he room we were trying to book another hotel. I spoke to the front desk and they replied that the junior suite is exactly the same one that apears on the web site. Looking at the pictue, I realize that yes, it is the same suite, they don't show you how small...

Great value for money. In a very good location, not too busy, but just a quick walk away from the hustle and bustle! Good breakfast, which was mainly continental. Much needed air con and a noisy vacuum connection in our room! The terrace consists of a small rooftop wooden deck and a table and chairs, not what we were expecting...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
