Very simple/fairly small room (twin bed). Bathroom's shower not that great. Can be noisy at night due to a restaurant in the alley (calle). No tv. Beds very uncomfortable. Excellent breakfast. Very friendly/helpful staff. Great location (3 min to Rialto and 4 min to St. Mark Square). Tons of restaurants/shops in this area of Venice as one might expect.

This hotel was one of my favorites on my stay in Italy. The breakfast I had there was the most complete I saw during my whole trip, it included bread, yoghurt, fruit and cookies, they also served a delicious hot chocolate! The room and the bathroom were perfect, they had a lot of space! The hotel also included wi-fi

Arrived late evening to a warm smile by our host and a virtual tour by map of the local area. Rooms very comfortable and extremely clean. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful and the staff were lovely. A little noisy until 11pm but only from chatter in the streets and only to be expected in the city centre. Location was great,...

We stayed here for 3 nights, on arrival we were very welcome. The building is very good isolated, the rooms are spacious and very clean. The breakfast was very good, a little buffet providing everyting you need, very good bread, you can choose your coffee. The location can't be better, in between the Rialto Bridge and San Marco. If you're...

If you're picky, don't like stairs, looking for luxury, then this place is not for you. This is for the kind of traveler who enjoys a quiet bed and breakfast type room, with nice cold air conditioning when needed, with windows in your room that go from floor to ceiling to admire the blue Venice sky. From the moment I...

Right from the time we have first written inquiring about the room till we checked in, the response on email was very prompt. We were given the room on the 4th floor. Its indeed a difficult trek up the stairs. Tommaso helped carry part of our luggage after the check-in. The location is only a couple of minutes from the...

I was at Ai Bareteri on the occasion of a business trip and stayed there for three nights. The hotel is calm (given that the room gave on the right side), the tenants and the other guests were also respectful and calm. The hotel has charm, my room was spacious (for Venice standards, I was in room 301). The breakfast...

My family and I stayed in this hotel this summer. We had a very good time and a nice surprise. From the outside we were skeptics, since it doesn't really catches your eye. But once inside we were glad we chose this hotel. The staff was very friendly and eager to help with everything, breakfast was OK and rooms were...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
