I have nothing but positive things to say about this lovely hotel. Located on a quiet street, the building is full of character, historic, and beautifully preserved, though I am told that they are planning to further renovate. The room was full of atmosphere and had a beautiful small balcony with doors opening over the street with views over the...

Very good location, couple of minutes from the Rialto Bridge and a gondola station right next to the bldg. Our room was on the 3rd floor(4th in the US, no elevators). Luca, the receptionist was kind enough to carry one of the suitcases all the way up. He gave good tips on what to see during our short stay one...

Dear Raghgo, thank you for choosing Ai Bareteri and for posting nice review. The locanda ai Bareteri is a nice little hotel in an old building situated in St. Mark's square giving it an excellent location and easy access to the main areas of Venice. It was very difficult to find and areas were not clearly signposted so it took us a long time to actually find the hotel however once we arrived...

Locanda Bareteri is right in the heart of Venice, just a short walk from St Marks square as well as the Rialto Bridge. We arrived at midnight and had no trouble finding the place, and the next morning Luca gave us great advice on where to visit in Venice. We loved our stay their, and can't wait to go back.

This B&B is located in the heart of Venice between St. Marco and Rialto Bridge. You can't beat the price for the location. It's very clean and the air conditioning is a god send in the month of July! This is a family runned place between piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge. It's the top location you can get in Venice (besides a room with a view towards the grand canal). They have family rooms (with four proper beds), breakfast is a good one you get for 10 EURO and the rooms are clean. Luca runs the place...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
