I would avoid this hotel. The only thing going for it was the location. The service was dreadful. The rooms were cold and we were bitten by something. The water barely warm. When we asked that something be done about it the man on reception was rude and unhelpful. The security in the hotel was very bad - frequently there...

We certainly didn't have any of the rooms pictured on the website. We had about 12 inches on either side of the bed. The bath was so cramped, that if you had tried to use the bidet, you would have broken your back, because the vanity extended over it. The air conditioner dripped all night and soaked the floor. There...

We just returned from Venice and we were very happy with the Belle Epoque First it is located very close to the train station but far enough away to not be a worry . We were able to get off the train and check in within 5 minutes which if you havent been to Venice is a plus. We saw...

Location is the primary advantage of this hotel, plus the interiors of hotel, including rooms. Amazing interiors, but the size of rooms could have been a bit large. Overall decent, value for money and satisfied our purpose of visit and stay. Just 5 min walk from S Lucia station is the Plus.

The location of this hotel is perfect, i remember have traveled before and pass in front of this hotel some times when walking to the San Marcos Church. If you arrive by train just get out of the station DONT cross the bridge go to your left and in 5 minutes you are in the door. If you arrive by...

Booked the hotel on the basis of location and not having terrible reviews. When I got there, I was definitely pleasantly surprised. The downside for me was the staff who seemed rather unapproachable but I'd say that is the only downside of my experience while there. The room is tiny so big suitcases will probably be a little hard to...

We stayed just on a B & B basis. Great location right by the station, very easy to find, decorated like the ritz. Lovely friendly staff, great room, fantastic breakfast good value for money, even though we thought venice was disappointing with the amount of graffiti and boats swerving to miss each other we couldn't fault the hotel

We have just returned from a trip to Italy with friends and stayed at the hotel for two nights. The hotel looks really impressive when you arrive but the rooms (we had three between us) are dreadful. The decor is initially impressive but when we went into our room there was an over-powering smell of artifcial air-freshener which almost knocked...

venice is Ok, but finding a OK hotel til resonable price is a lottery. But this hotel was Ok for the price. Clean, Ok help. Small room but functional, and quite. But still Venice. Close to the railway. And we will as a family recommend this hotel.

Hotel was relatively cheap (by Venetian standards anyway) at €140 for double room for 2 nights. Great location right beside railway station. 40 minutes walk to the main square. We were stuck in room 208, which was a room that seemed to have been added on to the hotel as an afterthought. From the spacious hall on the second floor,...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
