Stayed in the dona palace for 3 nights. Large room with a fabulous view (over looking the bridge of sighs). Its not to often you have a view like that! We also loved the outside courtyard where you could sit and have a drink whilst watching the gondolas go by. Everything to do with this hotel was fabulous, from the...

Just returned from a Celebrity Millenium cruise ending in Venice. After reviewing a myriad of reviews of Venice hotels, we selected the Dona Palace. The location is ideal away from the noise and hustle of San Marco yet only two minutes walk away. The rooms are modern and upscale with amenities you would expect from a four star hotel. The...

We stayed at the Donna Palace on our honneymoon 14 till 17 May. The hotel is very nice (not very big) with nice clean rooms toward one litlle chanel. It has one pretty litle courtyard facing the channel where you can rest and see the gondolas movement. The better is the location near St. Marks but far fom the big...

We booked this hotel by reading other peoples experience on Trip Advisor. The hotel has it's own dock so the water taxi was able to drop us off right at the hotel. We were greated courteously and my husband and I were upgraded to the Honeymoon Suite. We had a whirlpool bathtub and seperate shower, sitting room and the ceilings...

Spent a long weekend at Dona Palace. Very pleasant stay. On arrival we were allocated the largest room we have ever had in an Italian hotel . Our room was a corner room with three windows overlooking the canal. Breakfast was great and the hotel was steps away from St Mark's Square. Well worth the visit!

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in April 2007. We booked a junior suite (Rm 48) which was quite large and had a view of a side canal. The room was very large and well appointed with free wifi. Two of three people at the front desk were very helpful and nice. The third person just had no...

Just returned from a perfect 3 night stay in Venice. This was partly due to the location and quality of the Dona Palace. We were in room 26, it had a jacuzzi bath, sitting room and large double bedroom with views over the canal behind. For 880 Euros we thought it was lovely. The staff provided us with great recommendations...

After reading the reviews I booked this hotel for a surprise weekend away for my boyfriend’s birthday. We went for 3 nights from March 9th 2007, and the whole stay was fab. We had a standard double which was a reasonable size and nicely decorated, the only thing we found was it tended to get very hot in the room,...

I was taking my Mother for her 80th Birthday, so needed a Hotel in a good central location. The Hotel Dona Palace was just that, just off St Marks Square. We had a junior Suite (room 45), very comfortable and spacious room with jacuzzi bath (no tea making facilities though) good view onto the canal. Reception Staff very polite and...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

A classy, elegant, luxury boutique hotel, the Donà Palace is a four star property overlooking the Rio at the Doge's Palace with its famous Bridge of Sighs, just a few steps from Europe's largest drawing room, Saint Mark's Square. The Hotel Donà Palace's exclusive setting in the historic heart of Venice is favoured for its priviledged position.
