Ca' del Console offered exactly what you would both want and expect in the pricey tourist hub that is Venice! It is a converted Venetian house run by a family who live next door. My boyfriend and I stayed for 4 nights. It was extremely easy to find with directions from the hotel website only a 5-10 minute walk from...

You are going to Venice for its beauty, charm and history. This hotel reflects all that, when you wake up, you know that you are no other place in the world then Venezia. The hotel might not be all perfect but that's the charm of it. We had a great time in Venice and the hotel was a big part...

Nice, B&B, well located about a five minute walk from St Marks Square - if you know where you're going. First thing to do when you reach Venice is get a street map. The B&B is clean, my room was huge but the shower was a bit odd. No problem if you want to take baths (I prefer to shower)....

Entering this property is like going back in time, very historic that adds to the charm. In a good position within easy walking of all the main attractions, local restaurants reasonably priced (turn left out of hotel, then turn right, continue across square and over bridge). Only thing is that our party had two rooms for same price and one...

Very helpful staff. Nice loacation. Pizza place closeby and other restaurants. The boat to the station is also closeby. Nice square where you can sip on wine and enjoy. The lady there helped us with our bags and also got us a water taxi. Scenic places close by.

We stayed 2 nights in this accommodation and it was lovely. It took us a while to find as Venice isn't easy to get around but we got to see more as we were walking around. Once we arrived we were greeted by a very pleasant lady who was extremely helpful. She gave us a map and pointed out places...

It's a classical Venetian hotel. Staff are very friendly and they know what people need such as how to walk to the port, how to approach to the airport, and the price of water taxi, etc. But the soundproof isn't good because it's an old house. The location is great yet not easy to find (maybe 90% of hotels in...

I'll start by saying the location was great, and if you want somewhere purely for that this is a great place to stay. Personally though, after spending a little over £100 to stay, I felt it really lacked in some areas. The first being the check in, very strange, couldn't find our booking and then said she would have to...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
