We stayed here for seven days. For the first 3 days we had the room with kitcheonette at the top of the B&B. Then we moved to the apartment around the corner. Finally, we had a room at the ground floor of the B&B. For anxious types, this is not for you. Francesco texted us the code to enter the...

Booked the apartment online. The owners gave us their phone number to call so that they could meet us at the water taxi stop near the Rialto Bridge. We tried to use the pay phone and couldn't get through. Walked down the alley way to a small little restaurant where the owner was extremely helpful and called the owners for...

We returned to the Al Saor (our little holiday hideaway) again this January and took an elderly family friend with us. It was out of season in Venice and pretty much tourist free. It was cold ... jolly chilly but the Al Saor was as warm as toast and so comfortable. The owners are so helpful and nothing is ever...

(1) It is a 15 minute walk to the hotel if you take a left out of the train station. We were disappointed that we took the water taxi & paid way too much for a trip that we could have walked. (We walked back on our way to the train.)(Ca'doro taxi stop.) (2) We really liked our kitchenette room....

We stayed in the apartment associated with the B&B. The location is convenient near the Rialto and very close to a Vaporetto stop. The apartment however was dank and musty and opened onto a tiny airshaft. The layout was cramped and chopped up. WE had virtually no interaction with the owner until it was time to pay the bill.

We just returned from a week long stay at Al Saor. This is our third year of staying here, and would highly recommend it to anyone and will continue to go back. The staff is extremely accommodating and helpful to any of our needs. The rooms were very clean and the location can't be beat.

We've just returned from three days in Venice and enjoyed our stay at the Al Saor. Accommodation is great - right one, what we need. As we were all days in the city, we prefer simply service. Al Soar gives us all we need. Comfort for sleeping and rest, cleanness, and good relatively (for Venice standard) good breakfast. Pension is...

We stayed at Al Saor for four nights of our Honeymoon. It was a great place to stay and we are so glad we found it. They had a delicious breakfast every morning, less than two blocks from the Ca d'Oro bus/water taxi stop and less than a block from "main" street that had shops, restaurants, etc. It was such...

It was perfectly located - and the price was very good for Venice. We had the room on the top floor - 4 of us (2 children) with the use of the kitchen. Fantastic for longer stay. Personally I think it was the best think we paid (value for money) in Venice. And I will use it again (and again)...

We are a family of 5 and we stayed in a room that was a street away from the main bed and breakfast location. The room had a kitchen with fridge, air conditioning, 2 bathrooms, 3 single beds in one room and a double in the other. In between the 2 rooms was an outdoor eating courtyard. Everything was very...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
