STOP searching now ! I cant fault this Hotel and I cant really add much that hasnt already been mentioned in the other reviews [ Foscari Palace deserves rich praise ] We booked through the Hotel's own website so that we could have a Grand Canal view [ room 101 ] This has to be the main reason to go...

First I need to start by saying our room was magnificent! The service was impeccable and their arraignments were flawless. We only spent one night in this hotel and I regrete that. We should have stayed two to three more. Our room was upgraded to a room fit for royalty. The people in Venice were wonderful. I recommend you have...

I have just returned from my first visit to Venice, it was more than I expected. After reading reviews for different hotels on trip advisor the Foscari Palace was my choice, I was not sorry. The hotel arranged a private water taxi to collect us at the airport and take us straight to the hotel; it was rather special way...

The Foscari Palace was lovely in Venice. The hotel was beautiful with white steps, wrought iron gates and railings. Just beautiful. The room was very clean and the bed was lovely. It was close enough to a bus station that transportation was easy but far enough away you didnt hear the noise from it. There were working shutters on the...

We chose the hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and I agree.... it was great. The only drawback was that the air conditioning wasn't turned on yet (they apparently switch over at the end of May). With the window open it was cool enough at night, but then we got some "street" noise and construction noise in the morning from...

Just spent 2 nights in this beautiful hotel. I went based on Tripadvisor recommendations, and once again I wasn't disapointed. We stayed in a deluxe double room (101) with a view of the grand canal. The hotel is less than 2 years old, built in the palace of an 18th centuy Doge. The room was great as were the public...

I found a wonderful hotel in Rome last year through Trip Advisor reviews (the Ponte Sisto) - and you did it again this week for Venice! We have just celebrated a very special wedding anniversary there, and finding this hotel made it extra-special. As other reviewers have said, the location is superb - on the Grand Canal, far enough away...

I took my wife on a suprise visit to Venice, the culmination of 6 months planning - much of it spent in the Venice forum and Venice hotel guides section of tripadviser[-]! I had selected the Foscari Palace on the basis of the reviews. I wanted a place with a water view, close enough to the sites, but not slap...

This hotel is beautiful! It sits right on the Grand Canal and is close to everything! There is a little water taxi station right next to the hotel and all kinds of great shopping and restaurants. When we first arrived, our room had a wonderful basket full of fresh fruits and little snacks. I think the staff at this hotel...

Read the reviews and was not disapointed. The staff were helpful and friendly. We had a beautiful spacious room looking out onto the street. It was surprisinly quiet for such a central hotel. The bathroom was very well laid out and spacious with bathrooms provided. Breakfast was great, hot and cold food choices. Check out the rooftop terrace for amazing...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
