The location was better than the rooms, but for the price this was a solid choice. The breakfast was a meager continental offering, but I have not been to a hotel in Italy where that was not the case.

We stayed here in July , lovely friendly hotel but for the price we paid would of liked to include breakfast , very basic room , and for 5 nights would of liked changed sheets , very good shower and good location but not value for money , the room we had was very loud on the street which we...

PROS: The location was great, the staff helped us book our train tickets, gave us guides on where to go, what bus to catch. The area was safe and the staff even gave us details on how to self-check in as we arrived very late. CONS: The walls are TOO thin, they have no curtains, the room is very basic...

Absolutely brilliant long weekend with my boyfriend. The perfect location. Close to a lovely square selling fruit/ veg and a fab variety of restaurants, perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Comfortable bed and spacious double room with a private bathroom and air conditioning. Owners spoke good English and were very helpful. They were happy to keep hold of our bags...

We stayed here for three nights in May 2016. This was the priciest of the hotels during our Italian trip but turned out to be the worst place. We expected something better but this place is very basic. There are no toiletries provided for this price , only a hand wash. Very basic rooms and readymade breakfast, which is just...

We stayed at this hotel for three nights at the end of April. We'd booked a double room with a private bathroom and that's what we got. The room was large and had a good sized wardrobe, mirror and desk area. The bathroom was good and everything worked as it should. Towels were provided and the free wifi worked well....

We spent a night in albergo home peron . Since we arrived the staff was very helpful, 5 stars. The room was quite comfortable. The breakfast could be more varied , but it's the only drawback that I point to this picturesque place. The albergo was all very clean . The place is quite central and easy to get to...

I was glad this was for one night. When I made the booking the site indicated WiFi and airconditioning. Both of which my room had not. Only a fan. Location is good, but it is Venice. You are in the tourist capital, a fair price on a good room is hard to find. If the weather was not so hot...

We stayed for two night during the Venice carnival in late January. The location is truly awesome when you arrive by bus from the airport. The P.dela Roma is only 5min walking. Very useful when you come later in the nightor have to leave early in the morning. The hotel is very clean. We had room at the 3rd floor...

We thought breakfast was included but unfortunately not. There did not appear to be anywhere to have breakfast so other reviews stating it was included were confusing. There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room and the wi-fi is a little hit or miss. However, the staff were very friendly and there are some great bars and...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
