Very unique, beautiful hotel in great area off the beaten path, but close enough to all major scenic spots with a beautiful garden and canal view. The bed and pillows were unfortunately uncomfortable.

Beautiful hotel with amazing gardens to dine in for breakfast. A bottle of prosecco was in the fridge on arrival which was a lovely touch which we drank after my fiancé proposed to me in St Marks Square. We asked the hotel how to get to murano and they arranged a private boat to pick us up from the hotel and take us. Staff were friendly and breakfast lovely

The hotel is beautiful, lovely outside area for breakfast, or you can eat indoors of course. Beautiful foyer, but for us it was the room that was most fascinating. It was like stepping back in time. The bed was lovely and comfortable and the rooms are air conditioned. There is ample storage and a fridge in the room, which also contained a complimentary bottle of Prosecco, a lovely touch. The bathroom is compact, but has all that is need including little extras like slippers. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was nice and again, very friendly staff. I would recommend staying, it is a lovely experience.

This hotel is small but has a lot of old world charm. It is located in a nice area in Cannaregio away from the very crowded and touristy San Marco square, which is what we wanted, but still not too far away to walk to. Only about 10-12 minutes walk from Rialto. We arrived by water taxi right up to their own private dock, which was a fun experience. There are some great local restaurants in the area that felt authentic to us. Breakfast was okay- not the best and not the worst. It had a selection of meats and cheeses and some pastries/breakfast breads and fruit. The coffee service was wonderful and fast. They have a delightful little courtyard where you can eat breakfast each morning or have a cocktail in the afternoon. Our room was pretty small but we did not spend much time in the room so it was not a big factor for us. Staff was friendly and spoke good English. Overall, we had a nice time here and would stay here again.

We really enjoyed the Palazzo Abadessa. The last time we were in Venice we discovered how much more laid back the Canareggio district is compared to San Marco so decided to stay there this trip. Abadessa got great ratings and did not disappoint. It’s truly an old palace and it’s one of the few hotels in Venice with its own gardens, although be careful of the fairly aggressive pigeons stealing your food at breakfast. Our room had two levels and was outstanding for a family stay. The hotel also has its own water taxi dock which is very convenient (although not cheap: 70 euros each way from the train station). Overall we highly recommend Palazzo Abadessa!

This is a very nice small hotel just slightly off the beaten track in Venice. 10 minutes walk from most of the main sights. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful and our room was lovely and comfortable with everything we needed. We even received a complimentary bottle of Prosecco. The real treat to this hotel is that it has a garden, something of a rarity in Venice and you can sit out here for a drink or for breakfast. Breakfast didn’t offer a massive selection but plenty of delicious fruits, meats and cheeses with cooked options as well. It was all delicious. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you like a boutique hotel with old Venetian charm.

VERY outdated hotel in need of many upgrades without diminishing the charm of it’s history!! Skeleton key with 5 pound key chain, bathroom and fridge upstairs, paper thin walls you could hear the neighbors through easily, non-locking balcony door, gates closed up after 9pm and while you could get out, it was not explained upon check in so the first night (until we asked the next morning) we felt like prisoners…Would NOT recommend!!!!!

We had a great stay at the Palazzo Abadessa earlier this month. The hotel is beautiful, the garden is lovely, breakfast was great and the location is very convenient. Most importantly, the service was welcoming and helpful…in our rush to catch an early vaporetto to the train station, we accidentally left a suitcase in the lobby. By the time we realized it and started running back from the vaporetto stop, the gentleman from the front desk met us halfway there … he had run after us with the suitcase! Grazie mille, Abadessa, for making our first days in Italy a great experience!

We had a lovely stay here. The hotel is gorgeous and has a lovely tranquil garden. We loved starting our day with breakfast in the garden and made-to-order cappuccinos. Breakfast is a great assortment of pastries, fruit, eggs and cereal. We stayed in a classic small room - it was tiny, but nicely decorated in the traditional Venetian style. The shower had great water pressure but was very small. A really big person would not fit in it. The hotel is conveniently located less than a 5-minute walk to the Ca' D'Oro vaporetto stop. Highly recommend!
