What a delightful hotel. It is packed with Venetian charm and the staff were exemplary with a most sincere welcome on arrival plus the bonus of an early check-in. The location of Hotel Palazzo Abadessa couldn't be beaten as it is a two minutes' stroll from Ca d' Oro Vaporetta stop and within one minute of leaving the hotel you are in the heart of charming Cannaregio's main street. It is an easy 20 minutes stroll to St. Mark's Square and even less to the Rialto Bridge. The room we were given, 26, was extremely well furbished with material wall coverings, a comfortable bed, historic fireplace and spacious bathroom. My only criticism, and this goes for the whole hotel, is that in our room there was no comfortable arm chair or sofa to relax and the communal areas have period pieces that you cannot use so there is little opportunity to relax. This may well be different in the summer when you can sit in the lovely garden. Breakfast each morning was a treat being simple but all carefully prepared. It consisted of nice continental meats and hand cut cheeses, a good range of fruit and yogurts, hard boiled eggs, delicious croissants and the most delightful coffee I have had in a hotel for many a year. If we return to Venice I would have no hesitation in returning to 'Hotel Palazzo Abadessa' but would ensure I requested a room with a sitting area. Highly recommended!

This was not my 1st time at Palazzo Abadessa and it surely won't be my last time. I am simply in love with this HistoricalHotel, not too big, not highly touristic, in a great location walking distance to most of Venice attraction including being able to be dropped off by taxi boat from the airport to the hotel front door (high/low water permitting). The rooms are great, the service is impeccable, all staff is super friendly and helpful and works perfectly with or without children (as in romantic enough for couples, and beautiful enough for children to feel at home including the small garden they have not overlooking any super busy street in Venice). We only had one issue during our stay - they had work happening in the hotel which we were not informed by ahead of time (travelling with a 2-year-old this made "nap time" tricky as it was a bit noisy during the day) and we did not have warm water for the same reason and again we were not notified of it ahead of time (in full winter the whole family would have loved a hot bath after full days out in the cold). No apologies were made in this regard which was a bit disappointing. We would have still stayed there, but it would have been helpful to know about the two mentioned issues ahead oftime.

We had a lovely 4 night stay at the Palazzo Abadessa.
It has a real charm and elegance, and the staff are very courteous and helpful.
There was a good selection of freshly prepared food for breakfast, and the buffet style meant we could take out time and relax without being hurried.
The various bedrooms are very different in terms of size and views (they kindly showed some at the end of our stay), but all have real character.
The location is great for getting the vaporetto on the Grand Canal (Ca’ d’Oro stop) and also the Alilaguna transfer from the airport (Fdte Nove stop).
We were going to get the Vaporetto to Murano, but the concierge arranged for a speedboat to take us and some other hotel guests which was lovely.
Overall highly recommended for an authentic trip to Venice.

We chose Abadessa for the authentic, historical Venetian decor, and for the garden -- and both exceeded our expectations. It almost felt like living in a museum! The quiet of the garden was perfect for relaxing in the late afternoon after dealing with the crowds in the tourist areas of town. It's in a great location to catch the vaporetto along the grand canal (or a traghetto to cross the canal) or a few minutes longer walk to catch other vaporettos.

Breakfast buffet was perfect (yogurt, fruit, croissants, cheese/meats, egg, cereals, sweets) and staff always greeted us warmly and checked in if we needed anything else.

We stayed in both suites (rooms 21 and 22) as we were there for 6 nights they upgraded us from 21 to 22 after the first night. These face a canal on the 2nd floor; room 21 has windows but you can't really see the canal from that high up; room 22 has a small balcony which was lovely to get a good view of the small canal and bridges. In both suites, the bathroom and a small sitting area is on another level, so be prepared to walk up steps if you need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. The lighting wasn't great in the sitting area so not very useful. Everything else was perfect!

The hotel is beautiful, lovely outside area for breakfast, or you can eat indoors of course. Beautiful foyer, but for us it was the room that was most fascinating. It was like stepping back in time. The bed was lovely and comfortable and the rooms are air conditioned. There is ample storage and a fridge in the room, which also contained a complimentary bottle of Prosecco, a lovely touch. The bathroom is compact, but has all that is need including little extras like slippers. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was nice and again, very friendly staff. I would recommend staying, it is a lovely experience.

Beautiful hotel with amazing gardens to dine in for breakfast. A bottle of prosecco was in the fridge on arrival which was a lovely touch which we drank after my fiancé proposed to me in St Marks Square. We asked the hotel how to get to murano and they arranged a private boat to pick us up from the hotel and take us. Staff were friendly and breakfast lovely

Our room was lovely with a frescoed ceiling and a modern bathroom. Very kind people who worked there. Through our open windows, we can hear the gondoliers go by, sometimes singing love ballads. The breakfast was served out in the garden and was very good. I would have preferred a buffet instead of ordering ahead of time because sometimes they got backed up and there was a bit of a wait. We loved the less traveled area of town, and the quietude of the area. A suggestion for improvement would be to have some comfortable chairs in the garden for reading and relaxing in the afternoon.

This hotel was lovely! It was in a good location, about a 15 minute walk to all the major attractions. Our room and bathroom was on the smaller side, which makes sense given the size and age of the building, but the important part was that they were clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was included in our booking and provided lots of options: fruit, cereal, eggs, meats and cheeses. We ate outside in the beautiful garden . If we return to Venice, I would stay at this hotel again.

This hotel is beautiful!!! Very relaxing garden area, friendly staff, great breakfast. Away from the St Marco area but walkable. We wanted this location as it was closer to airport water taxi. Rooms on the first floor were less expensive and convenient to have our teens in room nearby. But the rooms on the upper levels were nicer.

The hotel is located in the middle between the main arrival in Venice spots Piazzale Roma and St. Marco square. Easy to reach. It is a hidden gem away from main canals or busy pedestrian streets, noisy restaurants. Not a huge hotel, but rather small and very cozy, like small private family home. Our Room No 23 was wonderful. Green colours, paintings on the ceiling, old classical furniture. We were greeted with a complimentary bottle of Prosecco. Breakfast is very good compared to other hotel in Venice options. And it is not only Italian style - sweet options and coffee. You can get much more here. We have not missed anything there. After trying 4 luxury hotels in Venice this would win if needed to come back again.

Wifi was quite slow, but I am spoiled by too good internet at home. Also in the room was very hot and no options to control central heating, but opening the windows during the night solved the issue.

There are several options on how to travel from airport to this hotel. Either by water taxi, Alilaguna to Fondamente Nove and then an easy walk or by bus to Piazzale Roma en from there on Vaporetto number 1 to Ca D'oro and then a short easy walk. Hotel has a mezzanine floor before you reach the first (top) floor. No elevator but stairs are really not too many and staff helps with luggage!

The hotel has a great location, in my opinion. Quiet neighborhood but only a minute or two walk from a main artery with lots of restaurants. Also, very close to a water bus station, for beautiful rides along the Grand Canal and getting to places like St Marks.
