It's hard to find an inexpensive hotel in Venice, let alone in the center of everything. It is located close to St. Marks Square, and made the trip to Venice that much nicer. The staff was wonderful and made me feel at home. I had a single room, which was cozy, but the bathroom seemed just as big! The rooms...

Hotel Anastasia is within a very short walking distance of Basilica di San Marco and the Doge's Palace as well as a vaparetto station. The hotel isn't very large, has 3 floors and is pretty cozy. The room I stayed in was comfortably-sized for me and spotlessly clean. When I looked around at other hotels in Venice, Hotel Anastasia came...

My friend and I stayed here in September 2008. We were traveling on a budget and my friend's aunt, who lives in Rome, booked the hotel for us over the phone for a much lower price than we expected to find in Venice. The location is superb: Tucked away in a small, quiet courtyard, but within a 3 minute walk...

Literally about 2 minutes walk from St Mark's Square, and about 50 metres from main shopping street - Calle Larga Marzo XXII. Over bridge at Chiesa San Moise then turn left straight away and go under the arch, by the gondola station. In a small courtyard - very quiet for the 5 days we were there. Room and bathroom were...

The Anastasia is on a quiet plaza across from the Westin just off Venice's "high street". It is an unusually low priced place in the best location, minutes from San Marco and the water bus stop. The room I had was a tad small, so I can't talk about the other accomodations. It was comfortable and modestly and tastefully decorated...

We arrived at 23.00 to find the streets flooded!! After rolling up our jeans we made our way to the hotel, only a few minute walk from St Mark's vaporetta stop. The hotel was well placed and the staff friendly. The room was very clean and the bathroom was well fitted and very clean as well. The room was quite...

1st of all, Please use the directions given on a previous review. Trust me without them you will be lost. The Hotel Anastasia is just a stones throw from St Marks square nestled between Gucci, Prada etc. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a lovely Venitian square next to a waterway. The rooms are clean and...

Thank god for trip advisor on the directions to our hotel, wrote every detail down of directions from another reviewer thank goodness. Or we would be still walking around and around. Once found what a lovely little surprise this hotel is, room was quite small but quite OK and the bathroom was great, plenty of room. The staff were quite...

This is a great hotel in an amazing location! At just 5 minutes from St Marc's Square its a great base for exploring Venice. The room was a good size and well appointed with a small fridge. The bathroom was quite large by Italian and European standards. The room and bathroom were very clean and also nicely decorated. Continental breakfast...

I stayed in Anastasia Hotel at the beginning of June, 2008. The hotel is very very centrally located, when every you need to go to toilet, or need to leave you shopping bags, you can directly come to your room and keep on your tour again :)) The hotel personnel can speak English, and they are very helpful. Rooms are...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
