We stayed two nights at Ca della Corte before a cruise adventure. It is only a short walk across one bridge from Pz Roma, which means that when we flew in, we were able to get on the inexpensive over-ground coach from the airport. Pz. Roma was also the place from which we rode the Vaporetto for sightseeing and was...

As a B & B, Ca' della Corte is probably typical. Well maintained. The value is there considering its location -- not far from the Piazza Roma. It is not a hotel and, so as a B & B, the guest should not expect hotel standards. Breakfast is adequate, but not much more. Some rooms have a safe (tiny, with...

The room was cleaned daily and there were clean white linens and towels. A well appointed bathroom with a lovely powerful shower. The bed was incredibly comfortable, just what you need after a full day sight seeing. We had booked a 'superior' double room but I'm not sure if it was. The room was not very big, there was no...

Just 1 big bridge, 1 medium bridge and 1 small set of steps away from the train station. About 15 minute walk, it is initially hard to find, because there isn't a big sign out in front. But the two ladies who operate this B&B are very nice, and professional. The room we stayed in was on the first floor,...

Fantastic end to our mini tour of Italy. Great location, walking distance from the train station and all Venice main attractions. The fabulous decoration makes this hotel a pleasure to stay in. Highly recommended.

We booked a superior room, but on arrival, after a warm welcome, were guided to a ground floor apartment about 150 metres away. It was lovely; beautifully furnished with new shower room, and a living room with comfortable seating, fridge (with milk and orange juice), microwave and tea/coffee etc. Opened out on to the path alongside a small canal. Breakfast...

Bad points. This is not easy to find. I walked straight past and on finding it there is only a small note next to the big metal gates. As for bad points that is it. Everything was great not good but great. Room spacious everything we needed as a base to explore the lovely city of Venice. I can not...

Charming place, very difficult to find, directions need to be greatly improved. Well kept, clean. Rooms and bathroom are tiny, bedding is old, the owner is very friendly and welcoming. They serve breakfast which is was great! Loved the croissants.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our Cruise. We walked from the Bus Station and to find this place. (Be warned, you will not find a big sign advertising the place!). We arrived early, but our bags were kept safe for us so that we could go off and explore. We were made...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
