The location is fantastic for one night. It is located very close to every tourist hot spot which is nice but can also take away from the beauty of Venice. I would recommend staying here for a night or two then venturing to the Santa Croce area which I found to be much quieter and had a much cooler vibe...

Rude front desk reception. Pointed out we were late. We arrived late due to a train delay. We got two rooms for 5 adults. One faced the street the other the courtyard. Opened a cabinet and see bug spray in the room. Should have been my first indication. I woke up in the middle of the night to use the...

Dear Madam, we aren't rude as you are and we aren't unpolite as you are. At the end of October we switch on heating and if you are so minus you do not know how to use it, it is up to you.Trust us when we say: enjoy your life. Best regards.

We spent a couple of days in Venice staying at this great little hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel was very clean and a quiet refuge from the bustle of Venice. The room was quite large and modern with a/c which is necessary in the heat of summer. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Firstly the position of the hotel is perfect,a few minutes from the vaporetto dock, San Marco and many restaurants, bars and shops and the hotel is clean with daily fresh linen but one of the male reception staff chose to ignore waiting guests and talked to a friend. If you pay extra for a room with a terrace be aware...

Dear Madam, thank you for giving some skills to our guests. In fact it is very important to know the place you are going to visit. There are a lot of prices for the same room in the hotel and it depends on the money you want to spend, but nobody could say that someone is down-and-out only because breakfast is...

We were remarkably impressed with Hotel Antigo Trovatore. Not only was the location superb (just 3 minutes walk to Piazza San Marco), the rooms were surprisingly new, clean and modern. In comparison with the atrocious prices of other accommodations in Venice, the hotel was reasonably-priced considering that it was right smack in the heart of Venice, and the rooms were...

Well only just back from a short break to Venice and we had an amazing time, a beautiful city. My wife and I found this little hotel online and was just what we wanted, it is in a great position, very close to St Marks square, so it was very easy to get to most of the main attractions, we...

We only stayed for 1 night but could have stayed a week! Rooms are clean and modern, the staff were very nice and helpful. Plenty of choices of restaurants nearby for breakfast, especially turning left out the front door and the the place on the next Right corner, not the one on the left where you can be ignored for...

Fabulous holiday Hotel was superb and the location was just right. The staff were very friendly and provided all we requested. Breakfast was very adequate and there was more than enough to eat. We had a room with a balcony which proved lovely to sit out and relax in the evening sun ... No doubt in the summer months it's...

The location is perfect. The staff is friendly and our room was spacious and clean. But everything was at the very minimal possible level to keep the place at 3 stars. Even to have breakfast if it is not included in your rate you have to negotiate in advance with reception desk.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
