Conveniently located in the heart of Venice, Duodo Palace Hotel is set within a historical building, and has been beautifully renovated and restored to create a new four-star hotel in Venice. Saving some of the most important architectural elements from this 600 year-old palazzo, including the frescoed ceilings in each bedroom, the hotel has a truly Venetian feel. Literally located a stone’s throw from La Fenice, the hotel could not be more centrally located. You can stroll to San Marco Square, the Rialto Bridge, or the Accademia, in 10 minutes or less. The top floor accommodations offer sweeping views of the city’s rooftops and major monuments. Glance below and you can watch a gondola slowly glide by your window. Offering direct access to the hotel from the canal, your water taxi can drop you at the door of the Duodo Palace Hotel where you will be warmly greeted by the staff. The hotel’s 38 bedrooms, adorned with beautiful Venetian fabrics, offer the modern amenities required by today’s traveler, including fully marble baths and plush towels. Relax in the cozy bar, or enjoy a book in the study that has the remains of a piscine - an ancient well - where you can almost hear the voices from the past as they share the day’s gossip Welcome to Venice

Duodo Palace was perfect. Beautiful rooms, lovely atmosphere and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was a new experience entering the hotel from a canal but there is also an entrance off the street. San Marco is minutes away as is the Realto Bridge.

My review is not based on the hotel itself - I didn’t end up at this hotel but wanted to share that that hotel cancelled on last minute while I was en route to Venice without informing me, …and then confusion ensued. Luckily the site I used to book sent me a cryptic email asking for feedback/context on why I was no longer staying at that hotel. Much to my surprise since I was headed to Venice and planning to check into it, after hours on the phone trying to get sorted- I ended up trucking around the city in the middle of the night and found a hotel at 2am - since everything walkable was completely sold out. I would not recommend this hotel not only for their miscommunication and error, but because they lied to the travel agency saying I cancelled- (but luckily I had an email from them that was very rude reading there is no cancellation under any circumstances and that my room was ready and paid for weather I show up or not) and then they didn’t offer any help to find me a room for the night, knowing I was in town with no where to stay they said there’s nothing they can do- which I know is untrue as the hotel community in a small space is connected and I’m sure if they wanted to help or a knowledge their fk up they should have offered to help me find accommodation. I travel a fair bit and would not stay here based on this no matter how well the hotel is rated, I took my business else where, customer service in the service industry is paramount to my decision making and leaving a customer high and dry and then blaming the error on the customer is not acceptable behaviour. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!

I brought home bed bugs and am still trying to get rid of them. The room was tiny like a shoe box and the shower basically flooded the whole bathroom. Apart from that central and safe were very nice but it still doesn't make up the fact that I now have bed bugs in my home.

So let's start with the positives. The rooms are a nice size, its in a great location and the staff a very jovial and helpful. The mini fridge was also useful. It's a traditional hotel so don't expect it all modernised and sleek, it's very authentic. However the shower was poor. Not very hot and varying amounts of power, mostly very little. Also Venice although out of season was still very warm. There was no aircon so we had the windows open. There was very little privacy and unknown to us let mosquitos in and we woke up covered in bites. Breakfast was so expensive we chose to go elsewhere. All in all not a great experience but it wasn't awful.

A wonderful experience being right in the heart of Venice but 100 meter off the beaten path. View over the canal and great room. Excellent staff and service all through the stay. Not the easiest to reach, but that is taken for granted in Venice.
