A really nice hotel with a lovely room in a great location in Venice for a good price - staff were friendly and really helpful, would stay here again. Located next to a square with bars and restaurants and the centre of Venice was only ten minutes away on foot. Station was also walkable in about ten minutes.

Simple but clean b&b in the more "local" part of Venice. Basic breakfast but still enough to keep you going till lunch. Lots of excellent small bars, restaurants and sights within a short walk. Would stay here again. Give the jazz club a try too, about a 5 minute walk away.

Only a 10 minute walk from the train station, but tricky to find - look for a sign on the alley that leads to it. Immaculately clean and a very nice breakfast with friendly multi-lingual staff. Very quiet and comfortable. Only one disadvantage - no elevator and the stairs were too much for us [old people]. Stairs in many private...

Hotel is actually bit hard to find. It is tucked away in the corner at the end of the Santa Margherita Square, behind iron gate (seems closed, but just push, it is not locked). Hotel is quiet, comfortable and clean. My room (201) window was facing not the street, but courtyard where locals dried their laundry. It felt so homey...

Best location on a big square of local (few tourists) life. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast included. 10 min walking distance from the railway station. 5 min from Academia Bridge. Historic, but clean. Hot in winter. Not a tiny room at all. The only disadvantage - steep stairs up. Would be a problem for elderly or for a skinny girl...

When you arrive, I will assume Airport Marco Polo, DO NOT pre book a private water taxi. Go to the public desk and buy a return ticket to the bus station (ROMA) and a 2/3/4/ day pass for the water bus. Having arrived at ROMA (25mins) go down to the water and jump on the water taxi heading to s....

+ Everything was perfect: the room, the owners, hospitality, hotel, location! - WiFi was weak (but not a big issue since you're in beautiful Venice, no time to surf the internet) and outside the square was very noisy when window is open.

No phone in the room in case of emergency. No wifi. No heating. No front desk to ask any questions: the front desk is only there from 8 to 1 ! The worst hotel stay in my life. I have no idea what the other reviews came from especially the one who says it was close to where they left...

The place is very clean, location very good, in the center of historic town. Our room was nice with small but nice bathroom. After check-out we left our luggage there and picked them up befere leaving Venezia.

I would recommend this B&B place for anyone looking for a comfort but not expensive B&B in Venice. We staied two nights (augustus 2014) in this hotel and we were very satisfied about price/quality. It's also neerby the garage where we left our car and we could walk to the hotel.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
