We had 2 nights in this hotel at the beginning of the month. Great value for money and very well situated close to rialto bridge. The staff were very friendly and very informative. Be aware though it is down a very narrow alley so if you blink you'll miss it. We will be back and we will stay here again.

Venice is a nightmare at peak holiday times. It is overcrowded, expensive and oppressive. Luckily you have to walk a few hundred yards off the beaten track and you feel as if you've been transported hundreds of years into the past. Apostoli Palace is tucked away up a side street a stone's throw away from the main thoroughfare from the...

I feel this place was so so, in a quite area, we thought would be nice to stay off of the beaten path, and not poor lots of ash into a 4 or 5 hotel, this place could have been just a little more effort a neat place to stay but was a little tired to put it nicely. Why...

The hotel is well situated and away from the busy attractions. It is a 10 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge and a 20 minute walk to St Mark's Square. The rooms are tastefully decorated and our room was quite large. The continental breakfast had a good selection to choose from. The staff were friendly and very helpful in helping...

This is a small hotel in a quiet neighbourhood which will appeal to the independent traveller as it provides the opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture. It is the 2nd stop (Fonte Nove) on the Alilaguna waterbus service from Marco Polo airport, Euro 15 oneway. Walk approx 5 mins to the hotel via Campo Gesuiti, over 2 small...

The rooms aren't the biggest (been in smaller in Japan) but perfect for what you need them for. Has free WiFi which was fast enough, room was always clean, free safe, fridge etc. Breakfast was great, croissants, toast, cereals, yoghurts, fruit, juices plus a variety of hot drinks. Location was great. I'd recommend taking the boat rather than bus as...

We found this hotel small and wonderful near Fondae Nouveau waterfront, which makes it easier to take a vaporetto from the airport and walk to the hotel. Also it's proximity to this waterfront helps you take vaporetto to Murano, Burano.its a 5 minutes walk to the Rialto and about 20 minutes to St. Mark's square. Talking about the hotel it...

Lovely little hotel in beautiful surroundings. Be sure to get a map and know where to find the hotel beforehand! Lots of side streets and similarities make it difficult to navigate at first. The staff were so friendly and more than happy to help. Breakfast is as stated a 'little Italian breakfast' fresh croissants and rolls, yoghurt, meats and toast....

Stayed here for five nights and the only complaint I have was that it was a bit cold in the room, other than that everything was great. Lovely clean room with coffee making facilities, hairdryer and all the bits and pieces you don't want to take away with you. The staff are very friendly and can't do enough to help...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
