We spent 3 nights in this hotel during our stay in Venice. The staff were very friendly. Our room were big enough and the canal view from room - AMAZING. I liked the singing gondoliers under our windows. Location = excellent - only a few steps from San Marco square and vaporetto station. breakfast tasty, rooms clean. Overall rating -...

Couldn't have asked for a better location. The hotel is next to some very 5* hotels and expensive shops and just a bridge or two away from saint mark's square. We got a room on the 3rd floor with a window overlooking San Moise canal. It was a treat to listen to gondoliers singing and entertaining passengers during peak times...

We spent 3 nights in January and thought we had made a great choice. Friendly and helpful staff and very conveniently located a short walk from the vaporetto at Vallaresso San Marco. Much easier to find than Google maps suggest, just turn left straight after the bridge! Well worth paying a little extra for a room looking out onto the...

Lovely hotel and friendly staff, especially James who was always friendly and helpful. Central location so easy walking to everywhere, check coffee prices before you go in - we only got ripped off once at 4.50 a cup but so easy to do when you think a little tiny cosy looking cafe looks inviting! Want the loo - 1.50 !!!...

Perfect location, perfect beds, perfect staff. Just minutes from Piazza San Marco, easy to find from Vaporetto Giglio stop. Front desk staff was absolutely amazing and will set up a tour of Murano glass blowing for you at no charge. WELL WORTH IT! That was my favorite part of the whole trip, a must-see, especially if you are interested in...

The hotel is situated very near vapareto station "San Marco". Easy to get to from d airport on the Ali Laguna ferry service. Our room was overlooking the gondola station and in the evening we could hear the gondoliers singing below. The staff were very helpful as well. One thing to note is that there is no lift, so if...

An extremely clean and affordable hotel in the heart of Venice. Only 2 minutes away from St Marks Square! Ignore any comments about noise from the Gondola's early in the morning. They're not very loud and their singing is nice to wake up to - a real Venetian experience!

This was a fantastic hotel. Be warned the hotel rooms are very small, but this makes no difference, as it really only serves as a place to sleep. The location was wonderful. The hotel was close to Sant Marco's square and ran along the canal, so if you can make sure you get a room that has a window opening...

Situated in the very heart of Venice this hotel is the history itself. Very old building (no elevator, but the staff was so kind that helped with the suitcase) small, definitely small room, but the gondola parking just under the window is the greatest experience ever! Nice breakfast, very helpful staff, beautiful atmosphere - I recommend this hotel!

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
