I honestly have nothing good to say about this hotel other than it's close proximate to the train station. 1) There isn't a reception (you check in and out at a hotel down the street) 2) The bedrooms do not all have bathrooms (we we're promised "bathroom facilities" by this they mean shared bathroom with a single shower) 3) The...

Check in is in another hotel a few metres up the road. This didn't cause us any hassle but others may not have understood as easily. Hotel staff were unhelpful and unfriendly on arrival. However, staff we dealt with after our first day were much friendlier. The room was fine, old fashioned but that didn't bother us. The place was...

Check-in is in the Hotel Canal next door. Very good location As said above, but, room was very dated, only one euro plug in the room which you have to share with the air conditioning unit. So bring Italian plug converters. Also BRING INSECT REPELLENT, cannot stress this enough, I was bitten at least 8 times on the first night.

Check in is down the road at another hotel, staff there are friendly and are willing to help. The walk to the Airone was short but a lot of steps to get to the room, no option of using an elevator which would be hard for older people or persons who can't carry their bags on their own. Very close...

Stayed 4 nights. Location is brilliant as it's right on the Grand Canal opposite Ferrovia boat stop and train station. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. They store your luggage all day before check in and after check out. The rooms are very basic, we had an ensuite shower room which is small. Hairdryers in room and a small TV....

Overall this is a classic example of you get what you pay for. The staff is wonderful and very friendly. Having a communal shower isn't too big of a deal and we never had to wait for the toilet. The room itself was okay, we have a few problems with bugs (including a spider that crawled into my luggage), and...

This hotel was very unwelcoming and the staff are not friendly. The double bed is a king single, even though we had a bathroom we showered in the shared bathroom as our shower was unusable due to bad drainage and not being separate from the rest of the bathroom. The breakfast is inedible and there was pigeons flying onto all...

The room was OK. Nothing more, nothing less. The reception and breakfast(which was sub-par) was at another hotel (hotel canal), about 20m away. In room 12 there was no cold water, and the shared facilities was horrible (toilets had problem flushing, and not the cleanest). Wifi was available, but expensive (1€ for 1hr or 3€ for 10hr, Per device) and...

My Fiancé and I have always wanted to go to Venice, the city itself did not disappoint it was so beautiful to see but unfortunately for us our holiday in Venice was completely ruined from start to finish spoiled by the bed bug infested 'Hotel Airone'. When we first seen our hotel room we thought it looked dated and it...

Dear Sir The problem of the bed bugs doesn’t belong from the lack of clearing of the places; but these bugs are transported around on the lagguages of the guests themselves. The holds of planes, trains and boats are hounted by the bugs that then gets attached to the lagguage and brought around from the guests. You indeed has confirmed...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
